Possible, or even worth switching from Steam ESO?

I just got back into ESO after a few months break, and with yesterdays Steam login issues, I heard that it's become a fairly common thing. Is it worth re-buying the game through ESO's website (base game is $25 where I live). Would everything transfer over as is? I have Morrowind, ESO+ and things purchased through the crown store or just stick with Steam?

people say yes, it will give you acces to all the stuff you already have on your Steam account: characters, subscription, purchases.
Still this is absolutely unacceptable when customers have to pay to get rid of such a problem. Russians speaking: If ZOS had conscience they would burn with shame.
One of the two of us definitely has gone mad. It only remains to define whether this one is the whole world or just me.
