Quests & Stories

So, I've just finished the last questline remaining in Vvardenfell. (Started playing the game just about two weeks ago so I'm a bit late with this, I suppose.) You probably know the one - the story of Sun-in-Shadow and Eoki. Make no mistake, I've greatly enjoyed all questlines of the expansion but this one in particular absolutely broke my heart and touched me to the core. The writers captured perfectly what it's like to grow up with heavy-handed abuse and internalizing it to the point where you not only accept all the wrongs done but actively believe that if you "just do better" things will change. Although the ending wasn't what I'd call a happy one, it was certainly realistic. Again, excellent writing. Many kudos to the ones responsible for this.

What are your favourite story moments in the game? Doesn't have to be a quest. Could be a book, a short note scrawled down and left behind in the middle of nowhere, or even just an overheard dialogue that you think is memorable. As an example, I found the book "Dark Elves, Dark Hearts" to be quite... something.

That Bright-Throat quest chain in Murkmire with Haxara made me depressed.
Welcome, Moon-and-Star, to this place where destiny is made.

I play healers or DPS often for vet dungeons and trials (NA, CP810+). I play mostly elves or Argonians.
I primarily play Damage-Based stuff in PvP, but occasionally I'll play something tanky or got the heals.
I also love gaining more knowledge both metaphysical and mundane regarding TES lore.

I also occasionally role-play, but I prefer playing the game.

I recently did a delve where I found an enchanted axe on a dead wood orc with a bill of sale, so I brought it back to the original seller in case he'd want it back. Turns out, he had cursed the axe to attract undead and ghosts so as to get rid of the wood orcs. He was pretty upset to get the axe back. x)
Was very amused by this mini quest.
PC/EU - PVE 2H stam orc petsorc (meta, what meta?) ww - terrible dps - mediocre player - fun times - free ww bites to whomever asks so don't be shy if interested

I have read up on Murkmire's story briefly and it seems the quests there are emotional roller coasters. Not sure if I'm looking forward to or dreading them due to all the heartbreaks that will happen.

I actually wasn't even aware that there are PvP quests like that. Tried a few of the battlegrounds (or arenas?) though and they were fun if hectic.

Honestly, that's a brilliant solution for getting rid of undesirable neighbours. Evil, but brilliant. Can't wait to find this one myself.

@ewenness Remember that quest with the old Dunmeri man and his kids in Vvardenfell that was really sad? Basically Murkmire has a lot of those sort of quests.

The main Rivenspire quest was quite touching. I actually kept the staff you get at the end of it instead of deconstructing it, because I got quite attached to the characters and really wanted everyone to have a happy ending.

There is a funny quest in Greenshade where Dunmer thinks that he is a Khajiit and lives with khajiits. He asks you to bring him a potion, that would transform him into a khajiit. The ending is a funny one. I won't spoil it, just do it yourself and enjoy ) I think you can start this quest by reading a note in the Barrow Trench delve in the north

The quest line in Hew's Bane is very interesting and I would suggest completing it.

Btw, I also enjoyed Telvanni quest line immensely and think it the best quest line to date.

My favourite are quests with that extraordinary sorceress and her servant which always get in some stupid situation eventually.

The Greenshade (?) quest where you collect the flowers for a Wood Elf and his dying husband. Gets me every time.

yes, you start it by entering the delve and finding an note.
Not sure that happens if you find the Dumer first.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

The Mages Guild quest line. Valaste's background story and the final choice. Everytime I do these quests, it touches my heart. It's my personal Number 1 quest in ESO.
One of the two of us definitely has gone mad. It only remains to define whether this one is the whole world or just me.

On the lighthearted side, I really enjoyed the crow quests in Clockwork City. Those guys took everything so seriously and they were just ridiculous. :D

My absolute favorite moment in the game came toward the end of the Summerset questline:
The Golden Knight drives back Nocturnal's darkness through sheer force of will in a Crowning Moment of Supreme Badass.

And the scene that follows that is just beautiful as well.

I recently read a book about the exceptional abilities of captain Fortunata...

And I Loooove all of the "Investigator Vale" series, that I discovered with the release of Orsinium. I knew right away the character in the summerset quest in which she's mentioned.

One quest in... deshaan ? Where you have to enter a settlement of dunmers fleeing an epidemy in a cave. And a young lady joins you, hoping to reunite with her husband.

CWC had an epic boss fight then you had to fight the other crows guardian. Nobody expected that, and people say ESO quest bosses are easy :)

Those crows were just lucky they had a warrior of my caliber on their side to fight that unbeatable foe.

    Two things:
    - if you put off completing the main zone quest line in Vvardenfell until you have completed most or all other quests in the zone, many of the people you helped along the way will be present at the very end of the zone quest line. They each have interesting things to say.
    - Narsis Dren. Need I say more? Meet him twice in Vvardenfell and both times the endings (depending on choices) can be satisfyingly funny. However, if one plays the DLC / Chapters in order of release, there is an actual tie-in. The player will be recognized and be able to have a conversation about a previous encounter. The reverse is not true, Wrothgar should be played before Morrowind just for this one reason alone.

There are a lot of loose tie-ins throughout the game should one actually play it in a "proper" order. This helps, IMHO, make the game feel alive and responsive to your actions. Playing out of order, which is actually encouraged by having tutorial starts in the chapters, ruins that.
