How do you use the fire rock?

This may be a very stupid question, and if so apologies, but how do you use the fire-rock memento to travel via the tamed vine-tongues? I'm in the Teeth of Sithis delve and can't sue them to travel across the chasm

Quickslot, aim, use it while quickslotted, wait a few seconds.

Quickslot, aim, use via quickslot. If you aren't close enough it may not work.

How to firerock
1: quickslot it
2: put your aiming redicule over something/someone [they don't even have to be infront of you..just targetable]
3: press quickslot key
