[Suggestion] Low energy mode

I often use constellations menu as low energy mode (afk). Will there be some sort of that mode in the future?
For ex: in diablo 3 it is implemented as "fps while game is in background". when i set this value to 3-5 and switch to another monitor - game becomes slideshow. (it cant be paused, because it is still online game, it needs heartbeat).
Such mode could reduce energy consumtion while player is in afk state.
European players perhaps will agree with me, because electricity price in europe is pretty high.

Well most people don't really see the point in this feature due to the fact that you can just pop the game into window-full screen and then tab in/out of it as much as you want without a performance decreasing by as much as 1 frame

Mmm it is probably more suited for the "AFK" games like BDO, where you do stuff while being AFK.
Here you can either log off (or they log you off after some time) or just tab out.

Yes, eso kick you for inactivity after 15 minutes anyway.
You just tab out for short periods, typically to check stuff about the game like locations, builds and mechanics.
With two monitors you can have it on an second screen.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

If this saves you what you consider to be a noticeable amount of money isn't it worth just switching your pc off?

    Pretty much what I do.

Full screen window, when I want something on the other screen hit . to release the mouse and do stuff.
I'm so used to it now I even tried to push . in Skyrim the other day.

completely pointless. why would you load up a game not to play it?

if your that interested in "low power" - let your pc handle it through the power options.

    constellations screen ~140 watts
vivec city, not in prime time ~190 watts
lot of players in one place: dueling, spamming skills, etc ~250 watts

yes, better to turn off my pc. thanks for advice.

btw, can you describe me why diablo 3 (and probably other games) have low fps option?

alt tab out. Besides, the game will put us in low power mode after we get kicked for AFK.

There are already easy ways to minimize the game and this sounds more like a means to get around being kicked for AFK.

I mean you only get like 10 minutes of AFK before you're removed anyway. It's not like the old days of EQ where you could go AFK in the Bazaar and sell your goods or something.

That being said I normally start playing a Lute when I'm away.

I don't see the point. If you're not playing and your 'afk mode' means you can't even see what's going on around you why stay in-game at all? Why not just log out? Especially since the game will log you out after 10-15 minutes anyway.

Use Windows key->D to show desktop then.

This request is pointless and would be a terrible waste of dev time. If the couple of pennies this saves you per month is a big deal, then you should probably just not go afk with the game running. Exit the game and put your comp in standbye.

I have found solution, for those who are inyerested in problem in 1-st post:
    /script SetShouldRenderWorld(false)

to return to normal mode, just change false to true or enter constellations menu.

Yes I agree, eso should have this option, like other games have, don't know why anyone would disagree with this. But it is a pretty minor thing and with all the serious bugs and problems this game has had for eternity I would say low power mode development should not be prioritized.

If you have nvidia you can choose "Optimal Power" in Nvidia Control panel and then you can set eso to windowed mode, and then resize the window to become really small. Then choose minimal graphics settings in game. This wiil (should) cause your gfx card to use much less power. Next you can use task manager to change "affinity" for the eso process to only use 1 processor. The one to use should usually be the one with the highest number, not the first (that will make eso try to hog up ressources on cpu #1 making other programs that rely on cpu 1 sluggish. If this happens you can change priority of eso process to low and that should fix any sluggishness in other programs resulting from assigning eso to only 1 processor).

Downside of all this is the effort to make those changes is probably not worth it.

However, you will be logged out for being afk after a while anyway, 10 min or 15 or something, so the usage of this is not much I would say.

I see no difference in power usage with or without this command.
