The current maintenance time is the best choice for NA and EU (sleep/work), why would they change it? I'm sorry it's inconvenient for you, but you are in minority. As for the frequency... I suppose it could be done better, but I'm not an expert.

Honestly, how many people do you think are really playing at 4 am? Enough that Zenimax shouldn't do their maintenance at that hour. But not enough to change the EU hour.

To be fair, the last week was brutal for overnight maintenance. At least 5 times in one week on PC NA.

    I suppose that's what I'm upset about.

You know you can't please everyone with this? There will always be someone who doesn't like the time of maintenance...

I agree with you in general which is why I have said that 9-10 AM EST would be the best for maintenance because at that time of day most people in NA are either sleeping or just getting up to go to work or school and thus probably not on ESO.:(

You are awarethat 9-10am EST is 3-4pm central EU right? The maint. times as they are the absolutely fine. While I think it could be 2 hours earlier. But that is just me. As it is, it frustrates probably the least amount of people.

4am for who? And why do you think you're an authority on the schedules of the player base all over the world, when your own schedule puts you in the least populated time on your server?

Game companies take down the server once a week for patch/maintenance?? What the hell/// When did that start??

    Oh, yeah. 1995.

Its always been this way, and to be 100% fair to ZOS I've seen far, FAR worse. I've seen 16 hour downtimes on major updates in top name games. I've seen rollbacks and loss of items from an infamous MMO with over 10 million alleged subscribers where you had patches to patch the patch that the repatch patched, in the same week.

    I've seen gnomes naked!

Trust me, it could be worse.

Like people already pointed out there is usually one maintenance a week. Often enough that one is even skipped nowadays. Usually it's Monday, but if there is some sort of event it's often enough moved to Wednesday. Checking the forum banner at the top on Sundays will usually tell you if there is a maintenance in the upcoming week.

On top of that average maintenance times have gone way down and ZoS has tremendously improved in that regard. 2 years ago 6+ hours of maintenance was quite usual, but nowadays it's less than 4. The only maintenances that take longer are the ones for big patches. Out of plan maintenance usually also only happens shortly after big patches, because they are more likely to break something.

If 2-4 hours downtime a week are enough for you to quit the game over you might want to reevaluate your priorities. Like go outside, clean your house a bit, do some sports, cook something that takes more effort or have a nice well deserved nap.

OP, you are so right that it is unfair that you have to work during ESO prime time. You should demand a change, stand your ground, and get those job hours into the ESO downtime. It would only be fair that they accommodation you.

It could also be a lot better, the rest of the IT world has moved on, most online services these days don't go down for regular maintenance, they only have downtime in exceptional circumstances.

There are even games that manage to do this, Guild Wars 2 for example a game released 2 years before ESO has been down only a handful of times in 6 years.

Guild wars 1 went down once. Everyone was shocked. It caused quite the drama.

I was pretty happy that Arenanet migrates players to new servers that are already primed/preped and running the new build. All that is required of me is to download the new patch and log back in. Warframe does it too.
