Missing armor skills.

Hi all.
I rolled a new char and when it hit level 10 I crafted an armor set for it. For example I made five light, one heavy and one medium to enable the passives to be used. I noticed that on this char that only the light armor passives were showing after having reached level 20. I discovered that upon reading the books in book cases to gain a skill point in an armor, the medium skill line was learned. Another book gave the heavy armor skill line. I did not loose any skill progression as medium went straight to level 17 and heavy to 15. Is this a bug with armor passives not showing as I don't remember having to read books to open them? I thought just wearing the different armor weights was enough to level them whilst my char gained experience.

It’s a new thing I don’t remember which update it was but I think you need to wear three pieces of an armor type to show the skill line you still gain exp but the skill is hidden. Same with weapons they are all hidden till you kill something with that weapon equipped.

This wa sintroduced with Morrowind back in 2017

As has been said - once piece of armor doesn't unlock the skill line anymore, nor does a weapon you don't kill stuff with..

Also, you really don't need to do it like that...

...for one, most characters need not learn more then one armor skill line, the one that supports your preferred playstyle (stamina, magica or tanky).

...for another, there is enough experience in the game that you can learn one armor line, then switch your armor halfway in cadwells silver and learn the other if you -really- want to make a character that can switch between DPSing or Tanking with a change in gear...
