    @Bananko

Sounds like you already completed the event before. That will not prevent you from getting Event Tickets, Dremora Skulls, and Plunder Skulls by killing bosses. If you are seeking the double XP buff and/or wanting to drink from the cauldron to be a skeleton for 2 hours, go to Collections --> Mementos. I recommend going to bottom of first section, then scrolling up because the Witches Cauldron is just a few up from the bottom. Select it and there you go. The double XP buff activates as soon as you call forth the cauldron. if you wanna be a skeleton, then drink from it, too.

It's like this for all events you've already completed - the double XP activation thingie moves to your collections, so you just select it from there (be advised that after the event ends, summoning them will NOT activate double XP anymore, for the sake of not taking advantage of the system year-round). The Crow Caller and stuff like that are just for folks who have never done the event before and need to do that initial quest to trigger it. So, for example, for the anniversary event you have the cakes in your Momentos and for New Life Festival, you have that never-ending mug or whatever it's called, if you had been around and done those in previous years.

Doing trials on normal-mode is actually easier than doing Maelstrom. Try the Aetherian Archive trial on normal. It's considered one of the easiest. Go to Craglorn, and look for people who are putting a group together for nAA.

Heres how it works for me.

    log in
    collect daily reward
    do dolmen
    get event ticket
    log out
    play another game

    the end

If you’re at this point just take an all out break. Come back in 2-3 months. This game has a way of sucking your life away, and consuming all your brain power. When you come back you’ll take it for what it is, a great game that’s held back by mediocre direction. You’ll log in an hour or two when you can, have some fun, and log out the minute you start feeling the old frustration setting in. At least that’s been my experience.

I'm not the person you quoted but I made an almost identical post so I thought I'd weigh in. I'm not bored with ESO as a whole, or burned out, it's just that the festival does not interest me because there's no new activities or quests or any type of content, just new drops tacked onto the same stuff we can do all the rest of the year.

Meanwhile other games do have unique content which is only available during their Halloween period. So I'm managing my time and avoiding getting burned out by putting ESO on hold except for the one reward I want and cannot (easily) get later (I've been wanting the Dawnwood Indrik since it was first datamined and waiting for the opportunity to get it) and focusing on the limited-time content in other games - knowing that when I 'come back' to ESO all the stuff I would have done during the Witches festival will still be there for me to do and all I'll have missed is one 500g (and dropping) motif for each boss.

Think of it like real life festivals: If your town was running a "festival" where a man hands a goodie bag to everyone who visits but everything else is business as usual, and the next town over had a full fair ground with rides and games and performances which one would you go to? Or would you get the best of both by passing through your town on the way to the more interesting festival? Same idea here, but with games.

Mostly just logging in and grabbing the daily reward. I don't need Hallowjack motifs, don't care about Indrik feathers, don't want the Dremora motif (and would only get the delve & maybe geyser ones anyway), and I've got another more-pressing time-suck going on in another game I play.

About the only thing I might care about this year in the skulls is furniture, but after last year's pile o' branches, I can't build up enthusiasm to check if it's better.

I enjoy it. It's nice that the game isn't being flooded with 1|12323123213131321 types of one motif, like with HOllowjack last year. I like that you have to *do* something for the motifs now. A simple delve or a ntrial or something.

What I don't enjoy, is that the Dremora skull reset is 20h from when you did it last. It gets tedious to pay attention when you do it, especially if you don't have time to do them all at once. I had to skip one day, because I had no idea which ones I had on cooldown when, and I got so bored of going to e.g. a World Boss and "check if cd is over".

Just let it reset same time as the daily writs etc. Much, much easier.

@Kiralyn2000, for what it's worth the furniture I got in about sixty skulls so far is mostly branches (about ten), but also got a couple of pumpkins, two or three horse carcasses and a couple of mushrooms

I've been getting around 10 skulls a day including the dremora ones, and I've got one single branch. I have lots of lights and mushrooms and odd bits of charms and scythes. But only one branch, oh and some dead looking trees.

You will have last year's memento available - just use use that to summon the cauldron and you're good to go.

Thoroughly enjoyed the first days. Getting all new achievements on my main characters. Trading drem pages to get the best out of duplicate drops. Finished the style on a couple chars. Loved the new treasure drops, a few of which I had never seen before.

Then Nerfmire dropped and sucked the fun out of it. Now I log in, try not to think of the shield crap, try not to think of my useless stack of PvE speed pots. Try not to think of all those speed/nodeath/HM stacked achievements that I'll never get a group to do with. Try not to think of all the new notif pages I don't have friends to farm with. Didn't even finish the SP/FL ones yet, what is the point. Do some writs to gather cash to buy crown gifts. Force myself to go grab a skull or two for the ticket or pick a few maps to free bag space.

    Then go play something else.

I really like the event this year. So much so that I sent kudos using the in-game feedback interface (speaking of which, the devs need to add a selection for Events when giving feedback!). What about it do I find awesome?
    • I can play the game how I usually do and get extra bonus rewards. Most of my game time is taken up by either questing or doing a wide variety of activities (an anchor here, a dungeon there). The plunder skull drops really cater to that. No more smashing our faces into dolmens repeatedly. I love that I can keep focusing on questing and still get rewards for this event. Never before has an event actually given rewards for questing. Thank you so much!
    • Getting the dremora motifs has been fun. I had concerns about splitting the pages across different activities at first, but the generous drop rate made this very manageable. I'm still not a fan of trials, but I've had fun running them more often with my guilds (apparently I'm actually a good trials tank... who knew?). I also stepped into Malestrom Arena for the first time and hope to see Dragonstar soon too.
    • Plunder skull contents are delightful. I remember the year of sticks. While comical, it wasn't very engaging. The diversity added to the loot pools for plunder skulls this year was very thoughtful and makes them much more fun to open. Please do something similar to this for future events!

The one downside to the event I might name is that new players to the game will have a rough time of collecting everything on their own. More things in the loot table means you are less likely to get any particular item to drop. On the other hand, us folks who have been around for a while are often more than happy to sell previous event items for cheap or even donate them to new players for free.

Please tell the Devs that the Event would have been WAAAAYYY better if they didn't introduce an experience breaking game update right in the middle of it. Quite honestly, while i don't like the class changes i can adapt to those. its hard to adapt to broken housing furniture and crafting stations, mobs that wont die, broken addons. several maintenance's that interrupt said event.

So please let them know that next time they have an event that requires us to log in every day to get an item NOT to do something that historically will be rocky. they should have either released Murkmire before the witches festival or after. I am down 4 indrik feathers because it took me 2 days to fix my game and I am down 2 more because hot fixes took the servers down during the time that i had to play and most of the bugs are still around.

Do i want an extended event? no. What i DO want is for ZOS to get their act together and not pull this stunt again. All of these bugs should have been worked through on the PTS BEFORE the update went live. I know that the ones I reported are still broken...So from my perspective the PTS is a waste of resources.

    Or, said another way:

"Could someone encourage ZOS to use some common ****** sense next time, please?!"

I was doing it all along but...I got tired of achievement grinding so I went to only doing event ticket and then playing something I'm having fun with, the Dark Brotherhood DLC.

    1) it is way too grindy
    2) the clock should reset at midnight and not when we were last on, bugger that, who can remember
    3) the rewards for the regular skulls are awful and I've gotten the same thing 3 times in a row with the same character
    4) the gold skulls seem to be the same way, keep getting the same things.

Am i having fun? No. Why? Like most events it quickly becomes repetitive and boring. I'm at the point I just delete plunder skulls if I happen to get them. And no, I don't care about another silly looking mount.

The experience boost, the house (with the achievement goal to buy for gold), all came at the right time for raising up a character. It's given me another reason to do the delves as each one now has a skyshard and a plunder skull. The Dremora motif is less of a draw, as this character won't be ready for most of that.

The "useless" stuff, like the polymorph, and the seasonal achievements, do add some variety to activities that have been the same all year.

I love all the events, but this one not as much.
The plunder skulls that have only worms & Ta in them really ruin the moment.
My favorite event(I forgot the name) was the one where you had the chance at any motif in the game from doing dailies.
I have 8 characters, but only play 1 majority of the time. But during that event I logged on to all of them everyday.
It made me try different classes more than I have been and it also got me pretty well caught up with a lot of the motifs out there.
This time around I still just use my main, and really only do a delve, dolmen world boss & maybe a public dungeon then go PVP for the rest of the night.

I like free things, but if I'm going to do things that are repetitive & time consuming to get said things, I get a little irritated when 90% of those drops are worms/crawlers & the equivalent to a Wet Gunny Sack

I dislike that it overlaps a major content and balance change patch. It seems like that could have been planned better. It reinforces the impression that Zeni has limited strategic planning.

I'm enjoying the XP boost a lot-- I think I can finally finish leveling my warden tonight  I'm looking forward to being able to use the stockpiles of enlightenment I've been building up for the last few days.

Aside from the XP boost, though, I'm not doing anything different than I usually do. It's nice to get some extra loot for the same effort. I'm neutral about the indrik feathers. What does suck is that everywhere I go there are mobs of players trying to kill the same open quest bosses and delve bosses that I am. I've had to do a lot of waiting or I've had quests end on me prematurely because the boss died while I was sort of in the vicinity. And I play at off hours!

I'm starting to get that horrible SWTOR feeling-- that mental sigh of despair when I see another player. I haven't felt that in a long time. I hope ZoS will adjust population numbers per instance soon-- after they fix the sorc pet bug.
