What exactly does the "damage dealt in large cone" change about the skill? How much of a difference is it from "targets in front of you" I ve read its worth investing in.. but why??

yogarogue✭✭I figure using solar flares morph with instant cast aoe and increase spell and armor on every enemy effected is much more valueable and synergistic than puncturing strikes..
