What are the alternatives now?

So I basically only have one main character, an altmer mag sorc dps.
I kind of play as a lone wolf but within groups. For example in vet trials if something goes a bit wrong and people start dropping I crit surge, drop a couple of aoes for the self heals and then use empowered ward while I start rezzing people. I like that I don't have to rely on the healer to keep me alive especially when this sort of circumstance arises, a lot of the time it's a close call as well but now I wouldn't even attempt it as the shield is so small it wouldn't last while I'm helping people up.
My other issue as well is the majority of no death vet dungeon run achievements I have are from solo runs as I don't have to bother about other people dying, I know I can keep myself alive bar some of the special cc attacks bosses do which are unbreakable, people say you shouldn't be able to do 4 man content solo but it's not easy in the slightest and extremely slow going to do this stuff.
I always keep a shield up as well which basically means I am losing a dps attack in my rotation every 10 seconds or less if my shield depletes faster which I think is already a sacrifice, the other trade off for a big shield as well is I have to use sets which give me max magicka instead of crit, spell damage etc
So what are peoples thoughts now on alternative setups? because I really am considering canceling my subscription and moving on if I am going to struggle and die a lot in content I have become accustomed to and enjoy playing.

    You are soloing vet dungeons with no death? Well I hate to disappoint you but these were designed for groups. You aren't supposed to be able to solo them. That was the point of the shield nerf. A slap in the face to be sure, but easier than redesigning all dungeons to make healers mandatory without harming your survivability.

    Perhaps if you switch to a defensive monster set it won't be as bad. Haven't gotten to trying things out yet.
    This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

    Yes, but this time the baby was thrown out with the bathwater.

    OP Skilled hardcore players mostly don't suffer anything from that patch, that's why they called hardcore players. But all the other casual players - do, and a lot.

    Easiest way isn't the best one.

    I would really like to see some videos on how you solo vet 4 man bosses. I am not saying, I don't believe you, just that I would like to see it. And with a mag sorc? :open_mouth:

    Well don't think I could now bar maybe some of the easiest ones but I kind of did it by accident first while farming Tempest Island for purple Jewelry, instead of having to wait 30+ mins a time for a random group I figured I could at least keep doing the first boss, had no issues and before I knew it I'd done the entire dungeon. Did quite a few others solo simply for the no death achievement, takes ages per dungeon and some are impossible solo I'd say due to mechanics. Most are not really that harder than vet maelstrom which funnily enough I haven't done with a no deaths run and probably never will now.

    Well so just buff the bosses with a 50% more dmg to shields or whatever bu do not nerf the whole class...

    Not really. Players who have no interest in doing things like a 4-person vet dungeon solo, vet DLC dungeons, or vet trials aren't impacted by this at all since they aren't aiming for that level to begin with.

    Majority of playets can't even as a group of 4. Seen a lot of fails. Exactly that's why they nerfed shields. This just prove ZOS was right.

    Actually after a bit of playing around it's not even affected me that much tbh, I have to spam shield more often but due to just shy of 55k max magicka I'm never in much danger of running out. I did notice though for anyone interested I placed a champion point into the one that gives bigger damage shields and it didn't change the tooltip number so there must be a definite hard cap. I couldn't figure out how my shield number is being calculated though.
