As a new player should I buy the expansions?

I bought the Imperial Edition back in 2014 when the game came out, but I quit like a month in and haven't really played since then. I'm only like level 14 I think.

keevil111✭✭✭✭It's not that they don't have anything of value, it's just as a new player there is a ton of stuff to do without ever buying the DLCs.
Most of the dungeons are available, crafting, questing, making new characters, farming. I mean do whatever but don't expect the newer content to make or break the game for you.
If you play for a while and start feeling like you want more to do, that's when I'd consider ESO+ or buying DLCs.

The only thing you wont have access to is summerset, i think, so for a tenner you get a sneek peek.

Wife and I just did the same thing. Quit wow a few weeks ago and looking for another game to fill the void. We bought the base game and did the eso plus for a month to give it a good try. We did the marriage thing last night. With the eso plus giving us 1500 crowns, the pledge of mora was 1000 so we had enough. I would advise doing this if you and your pal will be grouping up the whole time. Also, only one of you need to buy the ring. We both bought one but only mine was changed to the xp ring and she got a new ring in her inventory with the Pledge of Mora still in her inventory as well. So we are just saving that for another set of characters down the road.

Kind of, but not really. The biggest issue is the goofy way the new content is introduced. A new character is forced to start in the new content, not the original story. IMO, the first character should start in the original content, then make their way to the Chapters.
As for skills, Thieves and Dark Brotherhood do have some skills that help the larcenous and murderers.
Everything else can be obtained from guilds and kiosks and other players (set items and motifs). Of course some dungeons are locked out, but those new ones should be done by experienced characters.Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Oh yes they have great value, at least for me. I have ESO+ because I am a hoarder and also love getting all the DLCs as well and some crowns to boot.
What I do when I start a new game is head to the Gold Coast so I can start the Dark Brotherhood quest. Why? So I can get the Blade of Woe. It's an ability that if you sneak behind a human and for me hit B+Y (since I use a controller on PC or Xbox) that you assassinate them. For me, I pretend I am knocking them out since they come back anyways and I really don't want to be a killer but like the idea this gives me a great way to role play being more of a sneaky character who knocks people out instead of killing them.
Other than that, you get Morrowind with the DLC. You DON'T get the Warden class though, that needs to be bought separately.
If you go that way just remember when you get to your factions starting city, speak to the "Hooded" character so you can start the Main Quest at a later time if you so choose.Not my quote but I love this saying
"I would pay It for support. But since they choosed we are just numbers and not customers, i dont mind if game and zos goes to oblivion"0
