Come on. My main is a magsorg, and the only negative thing in this patch is that I can't use overload 3rd bar anymore.

The only ones punished are shieldstackers. But that was a troll build, and needed to be nerfed, like the alldodging and the everrunning builds. This patch is a step in the right direction.

I'm only bummed about losing a third bar and havig Boundless nerfed some. However, the health-capped shield change is nothing compared to casting your shield to try to not die, only to die when your shield was being casted. Oh, you trying to cast your shield but have to dodge? You're dead anyways.
Pet sorcs will now be even more viable in trials. No longer will they be widely hated in them, even in vAS. Stamdens will no longer be the bain of my existance in pvp (stamblades are still true sin).
It's really about learning to adapt to the changes and making the most of em.

Nothing changed for stacking in particular. All changes touch a single shield just as well as stacked ones. In case you think the 40-50% health cap are for all shields combined, let me tell you it's not the case. The cap is for each shield on it's one. So if anything the changes push for stacking even more since you'd need to be at the armor res cap to make up the lost shield strength compared to pre-nerfs.

You know that they did not nerf shield stacker? I would even say that they forced sorcs more and more into stacking shields.

    What changed was:
    • the hp cap per shield to 40% of your hp
    • shield have resistance
    • shields can be critted
    • healing ward does no longer heal when casted and only heals after 6 sec
    • no third bar from overload
    • dark deal got nerfed
    • another rune cage nerf

    Consequences:
    • argonians will have the highest shields on mag sorc
    • hard to say how the change will affect pve and no-cp pvp
    • the resistance change will be a buff for some kind of troll tanks and will hurt high risk builds with low hp but high damage
    • it will force you to run a armor buff on your already tight bar space (rip third bar)
    • the crit change will make mag sorc easier to gank and in general easier to burst down
    • the lost of the small heal of healing ward at the beginning will sorc hurt a lot
    • rune cage: anyone still using this skill? the only reason to use it, is because master staff sorc are hard countered by wings
    • dark deal: i am actually fine with the nerf if it was not just the top of a lot of nerfs for sorc in one patch and they still have extrem bad sustain

In general sorcs will be "okish" but even more one-dimensional. Sorc will probably run now more tanky setups which will lead to less burst damage and they will have even more problems to kill anything but sorcs will also be harder to kill than this patch.(high risk and reward builds would die if they made one mistake but this patch wants to shift it more to a tanky sorc meta) Sorc whole toolkit is around burst and what can not be bursted is extrem hard to kill on a sorc. Yeah more tank meta...

I just would play anything else than a sorc the next patch.

Like many I created new toon (my first sorc btw) and was sitting at dolmen/dungeons all free time, ton of other new toons doing the same, huge amount of pets, maybe 60-70% of population were sorcs. I don’t know what’s on the high-end and top-tier, but in the beginning feels like cakewalk in comparison to other classes, healing, damage, passives, mobility all is simple and powerful, no complex rotation required.

I'm not convinced that the dark deal change is a nerf. With the right build, its a buff imho.
Not convinced Argonians will have the strongest shields either.. Been experimenting with builds, and by the time the necessary resists etc. are factored in, mag ends up being low enough for them to not hit the caps on my altmer. Going Argonian means more health, but less magica - so you'll miss the cap even further!
