The majority of ZOS posts are "We have removed a few unnecessary comments from this thread"

We have removed a few unnecessary comments from this thread. Please keep this discussion civil and on topic. Thank you for your understanding.

This was what the ZOS symbol redirects to as a "staff response" the majority of the time. Almost every single time I see the ZOS logo on a thread, I think "oh cool, it's the developers responding to an interesting thread" but it's always just a notice of a them moderating the threads because the community can't contain themselves and act civil. It paints the community in an incredibly poor light and I don't know why those posts are being highlighted. Not to mention the fact that many other interesting threads are completely ignored by ZOS.

It'd be really nice if ZOS had more of a presence than just moderating the threads and letting us know they've moderated them because I'd like to get actual responses to things like whether or not they intend to reduce the file size one of these days. I'd like a response to most of the threads that get staff responses to be honest.

Just to illustrate my point, I clicked on some random threads across 15 pages to receive a staff response.

https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/5537233#Comment_5537233 ("Return of shield stacking?")
https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/5535662#Comment_5535662 ("Poll before proposing a nerf: DO YOU THINK BLEEDS ARE A PROBLEM IN PvP AND WHY?")
https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/5520905#Comment_5520905 ("Healstacking shouldn't be in the game")

Two things, can you guys disable the staff responses for notices of moderation and can we have more of a presence on the forums? Because the game has problems/discussions to be had and I'd like to see actual responses from the developers to these problems and discussions that need to be had.

Clicking 'DEV TRACKER' at the top of the page does not show the post by those tidying up the forum, just FYI...

Maybe if the community were politer and less inclined to assume the devs were making and breaking promises, they might.

As it is, there's a reason the Devs interact mostly with the Class Representatives or specifically chosen players rather than the forum community at large.

We the forum community have to clean up our act and make this a place where the Devs can have a conversation, if we want them to have a conversation with us.

The forums were worse a year-to-two-years ago. It was a cesspool, and the moderators didn't do much about it. Now the moderators are doing their jobs. Trust me, the forums are much better now than they used to be.

The forums are just a means to an end to get word to the developers. If they're just going to ignore 99% of threads worthy of a response and more often than not, even when something's worthy of a response, it's just a moderation notice, I don't see the point of posting period.

I'm not saying the mods shouldn't do their jobs or that they're doing it poorly, it's just that moderation notices shouldn't be highlighted as responses from ZOS and if those symbols were to disappear from moderation posts, we're looking at 7-15 posts a week from the devs according to the dev tracker and almost none of them are in the general discussion section where the majority of discussions happen.

The game has far more discussions and problems worthy of a response than 7-15 posts a week (most of them from the community manager and a good portion of them are announcement/patch notes).

About a month ago some higher up came and posted this big long spiel about how he is going to be more active with us and blah blah. It's pretty funny actually because I'm not sure if he has posted anything since.

Because this thread discusses moderator action, we will be closing it down. Please keep in mind that discussing moderator action is against our Community Rules. As mentioned above, using the Dev Tracker is a good way to see comments made by ZOS staff who are not a part of the moderation team.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding a moderator action, please reach out to a moderator directly and we will be happy to talk with you.
