Hey fam,
Just wondering what the worst case of bad RNGesus luck you all know is?
I’ve recently just restarted playing this game on the XB1 NA server, and I’ve so far used 173 undaunted keys on Maj’s chest, only to still not have a Blood Spawn shoulder piece! I have kept a record as it took me over 80 to get Skoria on the EU server when I was there.
I though I was the worst case, but an IRL friend and guildmate of mine has so far used 231 and still doesn’t have Blood Spawn either, and he says that he used over 100 for Pirate Skeleton shoulders, when it was a go-to set.
Hit me, guys. What’s the worst you know of/have had?

✭✭Yeah, the Buoyant Armiger motifs are probably the worst.
Starting to feel like ESO dungeons actually know what drop I'm looking for, and stubbornly refuse to drop them, though. I know that BSW inferno staves exist, but the more I try to help people get theirs, the longer it takes each time, I swear. Maybe there's an actual finite supply in Oblivion somewhere, and they're running out? ;P2 -

✭✭✭✭✭Rngesus, for some reason, is dead set against me having a Bone Pirate 2hander to drop....I got bows, 1h, dagger, and even a shield...but never ever ever a 2hander of any trait or type.

magictucktuck✭✭✭✭✭I farmed 2 weeks straight for BA motif in Vard and never got one so i gave up and a week later was an event that dropped them in the boxes.. and during the event i wasn't even trying and i opened a chest in vard and got one lol and a few from the event boxes. after weeks of nothing but a chest farm rotation and none
BUT i was so happy last night i needed to farm BSW fire staff and i was going to just solo normal and get chests on the way. and on my FIRST RUN i got a fire staff BSW on the last boss

Wow that’s actually ridiculous
I must say, I hate that so much of the good PVP gear is locked behind PVE and group content.
It’s an often discussed subject how PVP balance wrecks the PVE experience, but nearly all of the meta PVP builds require hard-to-get PVE equipment. So imo, it balances out. I’m a solo player 80% of the time, so I don’t want to do to 12-man trials for gear, but here we are.2 -

On one hand, I feel for you, and am sorry it was such a grind to get one.
On the other hand, I'm glad it wasn't just me! haha
I had 5 Ice staves, like 4 Resto, 3 Inferno, 8 Bows (because I mostly play magicka characters, so of course I get bows out my ears), and about an entire mule's inventory of one handed weapons (of DW and 1H&S varieties). And more Two Handers than I could shake a Crit Rush at. All before my first Lightning staff. Which is the reason I resolved to keep doing vMA in the first place.
I was SO annoyed when my friend got TWO Lightning staves on their first ever clear during the Orsinium event last year. Err... Happy. I meant happy...0 -

I would say I have.. okkk RNG?? BUT in some cases... I would say trying to get a certain Undaunted shoulders (even just the right set, let alone weight or trait) is super painful, or can be.
I do recall a couple times, a buddy of mine (doesn't have a forum account) has done one dozen, two dozen plus dungeons, looking for a simple set piece, and he doesn't get it. He continues to run, again and again, and usually I offer, a time or two, to run with him.I usually get the very piece he's looking for, right set, even right trait.
I'm actually kind considered a 'lucky charm', also including nirn farming..

The worst though was foul water fishing in Reaper's March. 1200 crawlers to get the blue fish.0 -

One guy posted he thinks undaunted chests RNG are weighted by time of day. I tend to agree. I finally got the ilambris when I opened at some crazy time like 2:30 am central US time. I didn’t have anymore keys to test if I would keep getting them (as is usually the case when I use three keys at once, I get the same three set pieces in different weights and traits)
So I need to stay up really late and use the 30 keys ive collected since to try to get the light version of these shoulders.0 -

qbit✭✭✭✭✭We should use a bunch of keys to open undaunted chests at random times spaced five to fifteen minutes apart to see if there is some statistical correleation to this idea of them weighting those drops based on time of day.0

I wanted that piece specifically because every time I see the tooltip I read it as "Lambent Netch T e s t i c l e s" and it makes me giggle.
