More realistic than the paddles TES is infatuated with. Now if only they weren't katanas, and their ilk.

I want an estoc, damn it.

Weapons and shields should scale with the size of the character.

Out of all the shield styles offered 90% of them are bucklers and not full sized shields even if they are called such.

Probably. But ingame they look like this..

    Soul-Shriven-Iron-Greatsword.jpg

The handle only is like 300% scaled up. No one ever would wield this. It kills its bearer because it tends to get blocked by walls, doorframes, trees and so on.

IMO 90% of the 2h weapons are way too big.

I suspect part of the problem is that there's often a mismatch between what a weapon needs to look like to be functional (and therefore how it looks in real life) and what gamers who may not know or care about the practical issues want it to look like. And since it's a game and there is absolutely no relation between what a weapon looks like and how it works they developers are likely to give people what they want.

Even in games with numerous absurdly over-sized weapons you'll periodically get people on the forum raging that they're all too small and they want something even bigger...even if realistically their character would be unable to lift it, much less fight with it.

For example a real-life warhammer is basically a normal hammer with a longer handle - you actually want a small head on it because then it concentrates the force and allows it to puncture armour. A large, wide hammer head spreads the force out and means it does less damage. But in most games the majority of warhammers look like gigantic sledge hammers, because then it's "more impressive" when you're holding it, and some people still complain they're too small.

ESO is much better than a lot of games in this respect - there are still unrealistically big weapons, but there's smaller ones to choose from too, and now we have the outfit system there's no need to be stuck with a weapon skin you don't like because it has good stats.

http://eso-styles.com lets you see a gallery of all the skins for a particular weapon together. (I tried adding a link to the sword gallery but it went all weird).

I think the level 26-34 Akavir Sword is the most similar to the one the OP posted (makes sense, since Akaviri culture has a lot of far-eastern influences), or the Militant Ordinator sword, but the bosmer or redguard swords dyed silver would be a cheaper alternative.

And if you want a short, straight sword there's plenty of choices there. I tend to use the Imperial ones, even though the blades can look a bit wide for my tastes but that's because the Imperial motif is free for me to use.
