That is definitely one of the times when you respond to the request and any followup questions or demands with the line "I am Groot".

@Sheezabeast - I sure hope you don't have him riding your coattails forever now.... but you are a class act, so good on you!

Well if he gets too needy, I do know when to say enough is enough. I genuinely enjoy helping others with gear, to me, it makes the investment worth it. Crafting itself isn't hard, its the collection of mats, styles, style mats, refining, research...and to only use it for myself gets boring.

I feel this on a deep spiritual level.
In other words, yeah.
ETA: this type of thing happens to me way too often. It’s my own fault, really. I recently spent a ton of my own gold and mats gearing someone up and helping them with a build. A week later they were like, “Thanks but I’m uninstalling. The game sucks, lol.” It seemed like they couldn’t figure out basic combat.
......can I get a reimbursement on my mats? My own fault.

I decided to take a chance and respond to someone needing a "dedicated crafter" in zone. I need gold so why not. Anyways the person ends up being someone who didn't understand much about the game, and wanted a set of armor and jewelry that were dropped sets and not craftable, so he ended up wanting basic non-set training armor and crafted jewelry, and enchants for everything...in CP150. I tried to suggest some sets but just made them exactly what they wanted to save time. Then they proceeded to pay me with the armor they had equipped prior...some green calcinium stuff...and a handful of random materials, and 2k.
They then asked me if they could, in essence, pre-pay for future armor with random stuff from their inventory...hence why he asked specifically for a 'dedicated' crafter in zone. I explained how materials weren't cheap for CP160, and explained how improvement materials worked, and how they were expensive, and how they should just save gold, and sell. I even invited them to a guild so they could sell stuff to start making money. They then proceed to ask me if I would list stuff for sale for them in my guild and give them money...when I invited them to join my guild so they could use the store to make money, they didn't want the guild to get a cut of profits, so they immediately left the guild...and then he asked if I was turning him down, on the selling his stuff thing, and I ended up feeling bad and telling him that once a week or so he could sell me random stuff for gold so he could make some money to fund his CP160 armor.
Then...it got weirder...he then proceeded to ask me how to cure his Lycanthropy, then get re-infected with it by me afterward! He didn't have enough gold to pay the Priest in the Mages Guild though...the 600 gold needed...so I just decided to do him a 1 time favor and give him 10k to hold onto or spend, just so he had a little bit to hold onto. Then I showed him where the Priest was. He went, cured it, then asked me for a bite. I have literally no idea why he wants this at this point, but decided to relog to my WW and bite him. I went to the shrine to wait for him...and he asks me to wait while he relogs to do something to his ram? Anyways I told him to ride to me, get the bite, then relog. He gets said bite. He goes to do the quest.
Anyways, that was yesterday, and today, when he was on, he was still in the Hunting Grounds quest area, after being there for like 2 hours the day before. I get messaged about how his armor is getting broken in, apparently he's happy. I casually ask him what weapon is on his second bar....to discover he had never ever used a second bar, that he was doing a 'paladin' thing...as a Nord DK. He eventually stopped whispering me today...I can only guess what tomorrow has in store for my new...friend?
Anyways...never take requests for a 'dedicated' crafter in Auridon zone...just don't....
lmao
The funniest part was when the guy left the guild because he didn't want them to get a cut of the profits when he sold something after asking you to be his trade slave.
You're right though, responding to zone queries can be a dubious proposition.
Once in Craglorn there was this person asking if someone would craft them a Nirnhoned armor and said he had the fortified nirncrux already. So I said sure. Then he proceeded to tell me I would have to send him 10k gold first just in case I was planning to scam him.
