I certainly agree that Nocturnals appearance made it look like Zos farmed out that design to a budget group. However, I think Zos is making the right business decision to not change her appearance after the fact.
It is done and there is little benefit to going back and changing it as it is very much a secondary issue that is not representative of the overall art design and it sets a poor presidency that anytime a group thinks something should have a different appearance they will feel like they can get Zos to change other designs.

well also investors want stuff made in the least amount of money possible so they can make the largest profit off of it. look at ea the quality is crud but their lootboxes an microtransactions are their money. zos is basically a mini ea trying to just impress its bosses instead of focusing on quality game design and this policy proves that.
Not sure where exactly I stand on this issue but I do agree that it has the potential to hinder some of the refreshing or issues with the game
If they "update" my highelf light armor motifs... Im not gunna be happy. BUUUUT @ZOS_MattFiror there nothing stopping you from making " Exemplary Highelf Shoes" and adding it to the base blue motif book if Zos feels that its update time for some of the older looks. We have existing multiple versions of old armor already and as long as it doesnt override the option for the old look im happy to see more variety
The color thing, I dont see this as being an issue. Personally if I select a color to dye something i want it to be the EXACT color i selected. Ive never understood why this has been an issue but I remember it was even a problem with back in vanilla eso, medium armor never dyed right either.
The part where i think they might run into problems is updating old npc outfits. Nocturnal for example sucks, not many down votes to change her look. The moamer having the old ancient elf armor or the militant ordinators have (idk i dont go to red zones) I could see how some ppl could fall into either category of update or leave the same. Foe those its not about looks for me as much as showing off the history of the game. However I think at some point regardless there will be a time when the older zones need to get graphically updated
they can add the old armor visual looks as "legacy" armor styles as replace the old with new updated quality armor. Battleground motifs prove that alternate appearances can exist for existing motif styles
Let’s be honest here. That policy is just a cop out so they never have to address the art errors and poor design choices
It's just good design policy to fix objective issues and nt subjective ones.
Objective issue: Fixing that typo in the above sentence.
Subjective issue: Changing my mind and using words other than 'objective' and 'subjective' even though the new words would still ostensibly mean 'objective' and 'subjective'.
There are some art issues that are objective issues because they deviate in a specific and conflicting way (clipping, incorrect dye overlay, holes, unintended visual glitches) from how the asset was supposed to be released and will be eventually resolved in quarterly updates.
But stuff like "budget cosplayer" is nothing but intentionally hurtful feedback, and designers just don't need to be exposed to negative crap like that after their work's been officially approved. The designers don't work for you and they shouldn't be expected to give in to shaming and insults and submit revisions for things that are not mistakes.
I'm completely willing to let personal preferences slide so that ZOS can lock in their asset as final and completely negate anyone who tries to bully their artists. That is strong intellectual property management.
Clearly the nocturnal model is the result of meeting deadlines. They saw our feedback during the summerset pts asking for a change and for updates on it. Its understandable that they had to rush it for the deadline but to not go back and finish the model to bring it up to standards to the other daedric princes just makes them look like they dont care to fix it as they already have our money even though that wasn't the intention.
Have you seen how amazing mephalas and hircines model look? even clavicus who has a more normal looking model looked more daedric than nocturnal. Her shrikes look more like nocturnal than nocturnal does. I am sure the designers wanted to do a better job at THE main villain of summerset but she ended up being outshined by mephala. This policy prevents improvements from happening
