VO with craftable or Dungeon set (Briarheart, Leviathan, etc) on StamB.

Hi guys,

I need a bit of advice on this build as after playing heals as my main, I'm struggling to work on a dps armour setup to work with it, as the build variety is pretty astounding.

Anyways I currently have a new ST NB and have 5 pieces of VO (2 jew & 3 arm) on, and am wondering if I should use a craftable set, or a dungeon/overland set to complement it. The reason being it's going to take some time to get the transmute crystals to move them all to devine's. However if I use a craftable set I can make my needed pieces all devine's straight away as an interim measure, and of course I could buy gold weapons to match the craftable one if I can't craft the piece myself.

In short I currently equip 5 leviathan on at the moment (1 jew & 4 arm) however none of it's devine and I have 2 Briarheart sword/dagger and a Toothrow bow along for the ride. (I have a 67% crit) No Monster helms yet, I know it's not great and will def' need tidying up (and it's for main stream PVE, dungeons and of course will eventually be for Trials once I have the rotation sorted out).

So is there a craftable set I could use which complements VO at my level or should I just keep plugging away at the sets?

Any help appreciated.

Since you don't have a vma bow, just make some hundings. Including a dagger/ax and a bow.

Start with hundings. Then slowly farm your way towards leviathan or automaton. Tbh its harder imv to get those weapons than vo weapons, so you might still want to run trials. Doing a few trials ( about 10-20) with a guild got me axes swords and a bow ( that was back when sharpened was bis and people gave away the other stuff-might be harder to scrounge thanks to transmutation now).

I have done the daily pledges for many many months without purposefully farming and am still missing something. I have 5 pieces but never the ideal combo. Other players hold onto the weapons now. And i swear axes daggers and swords just dont drop in leviathan

    Thanks guys.

I'm sure there is a programme which works out what you're grinding and deliberately gives you everything else. Hit COH all day and got a total of 3 pieces which I already had....

In the meantime just made the Hundings set to use.

The weapons only drop from the I or II version, dont remember.

@ImmortalCX , I think weapons were dropping on both. There are even named weapons dropped in both (mace in CoHI, dagger in CoHII).

Leviathan or Spriggan's will do quite well.

I get near 50k solo DPS with VO/Briarheart/vMA bow. It is a great combination.

I was also thinking Spriggans. I ran VO with Relequen for a while. Do not have the VMA bow, so ran VO jewelry and weapons, including the bow. Liked it a lot. Easy to farm out of normal Cloudrest. Its not going to blast 50K, but its great sustain

Definitely start with a crafted set if you are newer to end game content. Assuming you dont have a VMA bow, the easiest thing to do is make hundings weapons, 1 jewelry and a few armor pieces. Hundings and VO is a fine combo. Is it BIS? No but it will get you in the game. If you dont have Relequen, I think VO is your second best bet trial set. There might be other sets that edge out the DPS, but the sustain and mobility are mighty useful. For solo and 4 man, I honestly prefer it to relequen (and I have a perfected gold set).

If you want to spend a bit of coin, Briarheart is a really strong option. It's basically a wash with hundings in terms of damage, but it gives a small heal which never hurts (briarheart/VO is a really strong combo for running VMA the first few times). Spriggans is also not a bad option, especially when solo or 4 man. It will probably come out ahead of hundings self buffed on a dummy (assuming all else is equal), but in a raid, the penetration comes from your group so its hard to recommend it purely for PVE (great PVP set). Ravager is a bit stronger than hundings/Briarheart for DPS, but you need weapons and jewelry. The armor is only heavy, so you really dont want to wear it on your body. One piece wouldnt be the end of the world, but most stam DPS go 7 medium.

There really isnt a perfect answer. Meta DPS is Relequen and either Ravager or advancing Yokeda (drops in HRC). Both Ravager and Yokeda are heavy, so what I said above applies. You want weapons and jewelry, which can be a pain/expensive to get in good traits. Your best substitute for Relequen IMO is VO, and Hundings, briarheart, and spriggans, can all work well to replace Ravager/AY. As for your head and shoulders, Just wear any two piece that gives weapon damage or stamina in the meantime. Selenes is your best bet for a monster I believe, and it's really not a difficult dungeon to run on vet. Only trick is that the last boss on HM can one shot tanks who dont know the fight, but on regular vet, its a breeze, and you dont need HM for the helm.

I got flawless with vo and briarheart on my stamblade. I really like it. But besides vma there are probably better alternatives to briar but it's cool for vma or dsa kind of stuff where you need to deeps hard without switching to heal as often

The problem with VO/Relequen is that both give minor slayer as the 3rd piece bonus. They dont stack so you are wasting a buff on one of them. Not the end of the world if you dont care about pushing score, but something to think about. If you take Minor slayer away from VO, it basically becomes a utility set.

All pieces can drop in any dungeon, regardless of whether it is I or II. The only difference are the named pieces, which are unique to each dungeon, I and II included.

@Oreyn_Bearclaw , just as an addition - there's no certainty that Ravager is a good thing to recommend, since its uptime depends (or rather depended) on Relequen. After Murkmire, it may drop below sets like Veiled Heritance (which is also heavy, but at least it's overland).

Completely agree. Was doing it for the sustain and to try out the new rotation of weaving light attacks and crushing weapon. There is a noticeable ceiling there to damage. And while I was scoring, it wasn't in the 6-figure range. Have since switched to the Relequen/AY and VO/AY models, depending on what I am doing. Much better, even with the VO/AY combo

    Hundings, Spriggans, Leviathan, Toothrow, Relequen.

Try different sets and see which works best for you. Hundings is craft able and Spriggans is usually fairly easy to find at a decent price if you know where to look. The others can be pieced together from dungeon/trials, but should be easy to grind out.
