We have over the years been given loads of Guild Skill LInes for us to use our points in. BUT!
What I want to see being brought to the table is a new category of skill lines. Since the start of this game, we have been fighting against the different Daedric Princes. Isn't it about time that we are given a way to join them? Join a Meridia Cult for some bonus healing, undead killing... Hircine for some bow and hunting fun...
People have suggested “blessings” already a few times and I like that idea too. Kind of like mundus stones. Personally to balance them they should come with cons as well. Like you can’t have two opposing blessings or if you are going to get the high resistance blessing you can’t also have the high health blessing. Or something.

If they were mini skill lines I’d join Hircines for the chance to use the Devour passive outside of werewolf transformation. I play mainly Bosmer after all.
Maybe joining a cult can be permanent per character, that would be a great balancer.
I have a dumb suggestion for the story bit, like if you were sided with one Daedric Prince and tried to leave/abandon them, then you a prisoner for a bit or get hunted.Would open up some additional possibilities for character and story. Already have characters with various religious preferences, and this could help make it more than just something in my imagination.
