I am wondering if there are many people that when they improve their gear to gold go for a lower than 100% chance of improvement.

The game has plenty of opportunity to stick you on the RNG as it is ... why give it another opportunity? B)

I golded my only vMA bow with a single rosin(it was on my first run as well back in Orsinium release, never bothered to enter the arena anymore, until recently for getting Flawless achievement, but didn't get any more). The thrill was crazy.

Anything less then 100% is at best a 50/50 chance of failure. ZOS math is terrible.

Anything below 100% is 100% failure the first 3 times you try. Welcome to the messed up non random number generator.

Very rarely since unless it's 100% even a 90% is more like a 75% in this game after pickpocketing NPCs I have never trusted any percent below 100% in this game.

I don't have the luck to chance anything other than 100% Anything lower than that might at well just say 0% chance. And I just don't think it's worth it. With passives 8 isn't that much, and if your willing to gold it out it's usually going to be because you know the set is worth it and it will improve your character.

If you don't go for 100%, its kind of stupid, really. Or you have a huge amount of tempers you don't mind losing.

If you don't go for 100%, you will lost the green, blue, and purple tempers you already used, plus whatever amount of gold tempers you took a chance on.

I've accidental gone under 100% and lost.

Also accidentally golded stuff without passives (20 mats) :'(
That was one of the few times I bought mats to upgrade several peices.

Pretty sure the second option is the most painful.

There is no point going for less.
Statistically if u only put in 4 and try to upgrade 2 items, u will destroy one item and upgrade the other. is more efficient to spend 8 to upgrade one item and not destroy a second one.

I tried going cheap on mats early on, when doing green upgrades. 80% chance of success failed three times in a row. Since it destroys the item and the materials used, I realized that that was one of the stupidest mechanics in the game, and that I should never go for less than 100%.

Luckily learned that lesson before I ever tried doing a gold upgrade.
