Furniture plans and where to get them.

I'm new to housing, though not to the game, and only have the furniture plans I have come across while just playing the game. Are there vendors for the most basic plans? I know the vendors around crafting stations sell basic plans but not very many. I mean stuff like building material, planks, bricks etc. are they drops only? I found the vendors selling more exotic or upscale plans. Am I missing someone important? I tried google but it's somewhat of a maze.

Note that some furnishings have to be bought, and can't be made, and some of those are only available from the Crown Store. In particular, plants (trees, shrubs, flowers, etc.) can't be made, but a lot can be bought from the Furnisher merchants.
The thing I find most annoying is the rows of books. You can make a few bookcases already containing books, but most styles don't have any, and the books themselves are crown-store-only.1
