Would you buy bare bones?

Simple would you purchase a House offered as being stripped down to just the house, purchase could be made by crowns or gold. They would still offer the "Unfurnished" and "Furnished" just as they always have. In addition they would offer the furnishing in packs as they have with the Psijic Villa.

Would this be of an interest to you?

It would be very helpful as a preview option, so I can see what's furnishing and what's part of the house itself and cannot be moved/removed. For example I thought the fireplace in the Pijic Villa was the furnishing sold in the crown store, I was surprised to find it was still there in the empty version and disappointed it couldn't be moved. If I hadn't already decided I wasn't going to use the house that would be a problem for me as I'd really prefer it in the main room.

But I don't think I'd buy a house completely empty because I almost always use the furnishings that come in the unfurnished version, either in that house or another house. I think the only exception is the two bazier pillars which came with Mournoth Keep - I kept them for months thinking I'd use them then finally sold them. (If you buy the house with gold you can sell the furnishings.)

If it was even cheaper than the unfurnished one, definitely. Most houses come with dozens of slots already taken with 'trash', dead plants and tiny boulders, not to mention the pathways done by sinking a bunch of stone blocks in the ground. Seriously. Houses are already hard to properly make look lived in without those.

My villa is at 700/700 and I haven't even stepped foot indoors yet. Granted I'm using it as storage. But I've already established that should I decide to decorate it one day in the distant future, I'll leave the exterior cell bone-bare and focus exclusively on the interior. That's the only way to make it look decent. But I digress.

No, I’d rather have the option to remove items I don’t want than be forced to buy every little thing to add

I know I would, unless depending on what is in it though, but it has to make it cheaper though.

It was the greatest award the Zos ever gave!! I am actually amazed they gave us such a nice house, mount, and pet. :)

The decorations are in the crown store but I will not be complaining about this one at all. Thnx Zos!!

I would love to see the numbers on this. What generates more money? Giving away a free (and admittedly, pretty awesome) house to everyone coupled with furniture packs that drop the same day or their typical short release house in the crown store with multiple purchase options.

Yes the house was neat, but nobody should kid themselves. They did it to sell furniture packs. There was never even the slightest chance they wouldnt award the house to everyone based on their own secretive metrics. This was a marketing stunt to sell crown furniture packs, and my bet is, that it was pretty successful.

I don't mind their reasoning, lots like furniture packs. I don't but free cool house is free cool house.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

This idea confuses me. I find it hard to believe a lot of people buy furniture packs, especially a whole set of them because the only interesting thing about housing is decorating and if you buy a set of matching furniture you skip a lot of that process.

But maybe everyone else does it differently to me - maybe to a lot of people having matching furnishings in the same style as the house is important and your own creativity is only relevant to how you place them so buying the furnishing packs is a great way to get a headstart on the process.

But I'd much rather find or craft furnishings and slowly put together a house I think looks good, using a whole variety of styles, and as a result I'll probably never buy a furnishing pack apart from the Trees of Tamriel one I bought for Mournoth Keep.
