Cashing in CP points

780 CP points, soon to be 810CP.

Many in PVP find them to screw with balance, but if they could be cashed in for a fixed perk then the balance between players could be mitigated.

I was thinking 3 tiers, costing 100, 200 and 300 CP points. 600 in total, and cannot cash in CP points under 160CP, so you'd need 260 CP points to buy the first tier.

Tier 1 for 100cp unlocks
CP Skills
Light Armor focus
Medium Armor focus
Heavy Armor focus
Perks
Invigorating Bash
Critical Leech
Field Physician
Additional Perk
Lunch box - Crafted and Crown foods now have their own bag similar to the craft bag

No toon would ever use more than one of those at any given time, so they would never put more than 100CP in those.

Tier 2 for 200cp unlocks
CP Skills
Spell Precision
Shattering Blows
Precise Strikes
Perks
Foresight
Butcher
Exploiter
Additional Perk
Azuras Star - Soul Gems, Crown Soul Gems, Empty Soul Gems now have their own bag similar to the craft bag (pretty PVP useless I know)

No, or very few, toons would ever use more than two of those at any given time. Spell Precision or Precise Strikes are either Mag / Stam.

Tier 3 for 300cp unlocks
CP Skills
Sprinter
Tenacity
Tumbling
Perks
Inspiration Boost
Master Gatherer
Treasure Hunter
Additional Perk
Alchemy Bag - Crafted and Crown Potions and Poisons now have their own bag similar to the craft bag.

Every toon can use those points, so it costs 300CP.

Conclusion

The goal is to provide consistency and progression among PVP and also PVE. If the Perks in Tier 1 and 2 are not adequately balanced they could be replaced with Fortune Seeker, Merchant favored, Plentiful Harvest, Windrunning, War Mount. They do not directly effect the player in combat.

What we would be left with is only 3 CP skills and 3 Perks per tree, which would be PVE only. All perks would have to readjusted to 10, 30 and 75 unlock, and we'd have essentially reset the CP level for most players as it would send many back to CP 180.

After that, there could even be the Siege bag. Anyway, the goal is this wasn't necessarily to be perfectly balanced, just to explore the mechanic of cashing in CP points. Balancing comes later. The CP points in the present form may never be balanced, but having a tier system could make them much easier to balance later down the road.

They definitely need to do, or should have done, something different. I think it's a bit late in the game to try and make a major change.
Although for pve sake I hope they do, because pvp won't last much longer, imo.

Yeah, by cashing them in, it is, in some regard, 'undoing' the CP system, without destroying the progress people have made along the way.

I agree and like what you are saying. I just think eso is on the downhill slide. This is my opinion based on what I've seen.

So, I don't think zos will make any major changes to the cp system. But I'd hope that they do.

Or they could make it so you have 2 champion point tables, one for pvp and one for pve. Allowing you to change between both seemlessly and allowing Zos to finally balance those aspects of the game separately rather than as a whole.

They could, but that doesn't serve to slowly remove the CP system :p.

If done right, this will satisfy those that want the CP system gone, and won't hinder those that want to keep it, because they don't need to cash in their CP. The bonus perk is there as an incentive for people to do so though.

Edit: They actually do have two tables. The one for PVP is 0.

I wouldn't want to 'cash in' my CP -- I'm at the CP cap and have been looking forward to build a hybrid that can wield damage on par with that of a pure stam or pure magical build. The CP cap will have to get to 900-950 for that to happen. Because of the continual diminishing returns (investing in only magica or stamina nodes), people will soon begin investing more and more in both magica and stamina nodes and more which opens the door more and more for hybrid builds and hybrid diversity. I'm really excited about this!!!

I'm raising it now, because I can see the diminishing returns are already setting in. So now is a good time to find a creative way to wipe it, because more CP is getting less and less rewarding.
