There are a couple characters that are actually authors of various books from the main series in game though. Neramo in the Covenant plot line comes to mind most immediately.

What I find interesting about the lore books is that book from TESV: Skyrim (Ruminations of the Elder Scrolls) which you find in ESO. It wasn't written until the 4th Era yet you find it. Interesting is it not? Must have been sent back in time some how?

It's mentioned that the Lusty Argonain Maid was originaly an oral story that got written down at some point. Perhaps Curio's version is just an adaptation, or he plagiarized? Or perhaps is somehow 1000 or so years old? Vampire? IDK There is a character mentioned in ESO, Divayth Fyr, that is still alive in the 3rd era, but UESP says he's like 4000 years old in TESIII, who the hell knows how that happened?

The Lusty Argonian Maid certainly did start as an oral story...

All the Argonians I have met have been wise elders most concerned for Hist trees and missing guar. I have yet to meet a single one of them who could be described as even slightly lusty.

Maybe when we get to Murkmire they could introduce an inn of a similar kind to the Ebon Flask in Ebonheart? If you have been there you will know what I mean ....

Exactly that. They're being pulled out of their correct time by the influence of Hermaeus Mora. From the loading screen of Gandranen Ruins: "Tales say that Gandranen was built by an Ayleid sorcerer, a worshiper of Hermaeus Mora who so loved books that she created a series of magical halls that would attract books from across Tamriel, no matter where—or when—they were published."

I am actually hoping a bit that Cadwell is actually Barbas, companion to Clavicus Vile. We know that Barbas doesn't NEED to take the form of a dog, so the form of a soul shriven is possible for him, and would suit his more meddling ways. Also, he does sort of follow the main character around a bit more than a normal human would.

Probably Hermeus Mora or one of the other temporal paradoxes in the setting. The entire "Dragon Break" concept is (arguably) discussing the player saving and reloading their game.

Divayth Fyr is an absurdly powerful mage who's prolonged his life one way or another to virtual immortality. Though the story in the motif books is freakin' hillarious.

I'm also all for Crassius Curio being a plagiarist, except for the part where one of the characters in the book is pretty clearly a self insert of himself.

So basically anything at all that doesn't make sense they can just say "Hermaeus Mora did it". Gotta love the old floating bundle of tentacles.

No, but the setting does acknowledge that everything's a little weird. We can probably thank Michael Kirkbride for that, though he's obviously not the only one responsible for the tone.

Then you obviously haven't seen enough argonians. Visit Riften (in EU server) sometimes and you might meet argonian called Casts-Many-Storms, you can't get more lusty than that guy. :)

Whoever said that argonians aren't sexy, is obviously not a sexy argonian.

I have wondered at his true nature also.

    He knows too much.

I thought he was sheogorath in disguise, I still kind of do. Who would be the first person you meet in coldharbour but the mad God himself? And of course being the oldest inhabitant. And they look just similar enough. And wouldn't he be the one to watch everything unfold. Plus the pot head. That's silly too.

Then she sees that a former aspect of her own soul started it.

    i think cadwell is a aedra/daedra/god thingy.

    just makes sense.
"The red pill and its opposite, the blue pill, are a popular cultural meme, a metaphor representing the choice between:

Knowledge, freedom, uncertainty and the brutal truths of reality (red pill)
Security, happiness, beauty, and the blissful ignorance of illusion (blue pill)"
