Purple mats of jewelry crafting is hardest to obtain for me

I get chromium grains from refining platinum dust at fairly regular intervals. It also drops about once a week when I turn in my jewellery crafting writ. I hardly ever get zircon grains.

I honestly just sell most of my dust.
I'm still so bummed about not being able to make purple jewelry on a whim. It's just way too expensive. What a disappointment JC has been.
I'm fine with gold being expensive/grindy, but I really wish they would lighten up on green, blue, and purple.

I have more luck getting Chromium grains as rewards from Jewelry Crafting missions. And refining from rich nodes from Crafting Surveys. I'm not grinding normal nodes, that ain't no fun.

Have to say the speed of obtaining these and the amount required for one full set on one character would mean that it would take me a decade to equip all 8 characters.

Lets say 4 grains per week from one character doing crafting missions, so 2.5 weeks to get one full Chromium thing, 20 weeks to get one piece of jewelry, 60 weeks to get a full set of jewelry... Blimey.

And 4 grains a week is generous.

Hmm, I think ZoS need to look at this.

I have almost zero zircon. From what I hear, and what I've seen, the best way to get it is to decon purple jewelry. But then you need to go farm that, which takes a long time. So essentially, unless you seriously concentrate on it, jewelry crafting is kinda useless. That's a shame, since it would have been fun.

I farm the raw materials, but do not process them.

This is exactly how I've been getting zircon grains. I run my daily random dungeons on my characters and decon the putple jewelry awarded, and if I'm bored enough I'll run a couple of dolmen cycles in A'likr Desert. Even with the jewelry perks all maxed out there's still a chance that you won't get a zircon grain to drop from decon. As for chromium, I get about 2.5 grains a week from crafting, my platinum dust refining rng is terrible though.
