    I don't think it's against Terms of Service but you have to be super careful it's not a scam. I might be wrong - I seem to remember someone asking that before.

    ZOS has said its permitted.

    But make sure you screenshot or record the trade so you can get help from Support if its a scam, since ZOS doesnt have an actual interface for trading.

    Selling crown item gifts for gold is fine. Screenshot everything in case of scam or join Tamriel Crown Exchange a discord group dedicated to safe trades. May be a bit more than a random person from zone, but you will get what you pay for.

    These quotes taken from a now locked thread that was moved, and the OP decided to edit out all the information he had in the original post linking all the information that was obtained throughout the threads life. Such a shame was a good thread to link on the subject.
    To clarify, trading an in-game item for other in-game items is allowed; trading in-game items for real-world money or other out-of-game items is strictly prohibited.
    A Crown Store item is considered an in-game item.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno

    While we're having this topic for the Nth time, I do think there's one recent practice that should be officially commented on.

    Discount codes.

    The way I see it, if a guild wants to offer a discount on a crowns to gold ratio, that's fine. The guild is in-game and can no way profit off that.

    However, there are some streamers who have started using those types of discount codes. Which feels like a hybrid of exchanging both in-game items and some degree of real world revenue, be it additional ad traffic or affiliated ESO product sales.

    As the gifting and trading system is still fairly new, I feel it's important to clarify gray areas before they become problematic.
    Thank you.

    No it’s not. If you think about it, ZOS has formulated the perfect way to combat real world traders. This option allows people to spend real money on crowns, and then “gift” crown items for gold. When you screenshot the trade deal, it allows for you to be protected in case you get scammed.

    I think it’s awesome, and a great move on their part.

    I just did a trade the other day and I was told by the seller that you cannot gift crowns directly. You can only gift crown store items including things like DLC's. I guess that's true?
    So I bought a DLC for gold instead of real money which I think is fantastic.

    Correct. The way ZOS designed it, you can gift certain categories of Crown Store items. People then pay you gold, or vice versa.
