One class, combat pets? (PC- NA)

So, many a time other than using my sorc, I would like to run with a combat pet for my night blade and templar. And why also doesn't a dragon knight have one as well. Are only sorcs going to be considered the only class to have a combat pet or can this idea be revisited?

I might actually play the other classes more if that were the case.

Yeah thats true for wardens, but I think like a pet dragon for DK's, maybe a ghost for NB's and possibly a floating skull for templars? Or if not a skull then something cool like a tiki mask or something.

I'd recommend against it. The sorc has 2 active skills, 1 ulitmate and some of its passives invested in pet support. For someone who doesn't want a pet, that is a ton of lost opportunity.

I love my petsorc but my magblade and magplar would be very unhappy to lose existing skills so pet skills could be worked in to their class skills.

An alternative might be an independent skill line (like what we have with Psijiic or Undaunted) - a 'Summoner' line of skills available to all classes that focus on pets and pet support.

And thus the necromancer skill line was born. And actually that would make much more sense than a whole necromancer class.

I know it will never happen but one of the coolest designs IMO was the hunter in WOW. You could "tame" any wild creature to fight for you and level it up. Anything from a small snake to a sweet a** wolf! Was cool cause, you know, customization.

Never played WoW but that sounds like the system Ultima Online has, and quite similar to Guild Wars 1 &2 (there you have to find special juvenile versions of animals, but otherwise it's the same idea). It is a very fun system but probably not ideal for everyone as finding and taming pets can be a lot of hassle, especially in UO where if they died you had to go and tame another one, and I imagine it's a lot of work for the developers to build compared to a simple skill line that includes summoned pets.

I'd rather see a more flexible 'summoner' line of skills that could support a variety of summoner flavors. I dislike (really dislike) the neon warden 'pets' (bear alone is okay) and I'm not that keen on summoning blue daedra. And I don't really want to summon dead people. What I'd like is to be able to summon spirit forest animals like the wyrd and some of the Bosmer questlines do - snake, tiger, bear, wolf.

Very old Spellcrafting datamines showed a Flame Atronach spell, so maybe when Spellcrafting ever comes out, that could be the case.

When I play my MagSorc, 2 ability buttons on each bar for pets is a big turnoff. So I don't even go in that tree anymore.

I'd just like my regular pets to at least 'look like' they were engaged in combat, trying to help.

I don't need them to score XP, but really, just give the appearance of caring if I'm there to open the bag of kibble after the fistfight.
I have perfectly good predators as pets that ought to appear to be lending a hand/paw.

I see ppl with the black rooster, and think it'd be funny to see that bird run in pecking at the bosses ankles...

Zos hates combat pets. They finally gave us a class that is not only viable with a pet but is practically required and they are nerfing it for No Reason. No one called for a 30% damage reduction to the bear but they’re going to do it anyway.

    SIGH

Anyway, NB get a shade clone that is technically a combat Pet.
Also there are armor sets that give combat pets.
