When can us poor console Werewolf players expect a fix for the Savage Strength Passive?????
@ZOS_GinaBruno
I expected it last week tbh.
This week again it only says maintenance not patch maintenance.
Does this mean we have to wait another week for the fix :disappointed: ??

    PC is easier to patch? Sony and Microsoft create extra steps? Zeni forgot? Good question.

    the certification process can take upto 2 weeks, zenimax has no control over that part.

    I doubt we’ll get it before the next xpac. For such a large player base they really need to get themselves better organized for live patching and implementation. If some ramshackle garbage game like DCUO (and FFXIV—not garbage) can do day and date with PC, ZoS have no excuse.

    Honestly in this case it is not Zeni's fault. PC and console are completely different beasts when it comes to patches. I'm on PS4 so I'll use Sony as an example...

    Sony has an obligation to its users to ensure that game updates do not break their services, ie every patch for every game needs to be submitted for certification and tested by Sony to make sure console features (like your PS4 friends list, shareplay, etc.) are still working as intended and nothing will corrupt your system. Before they will allow any patch to go live it needs to go through this process, which takes time. Also, if I'm not mistaken, Sony US and Sony Europe are two different enterprises and patches for them need to be submitted/tested/certified separately. So if Zeni wants to release patches on NA and EU servers at roughly the same time they might need to delay one if the other is stuck in the verification process.

    It's just really not an option for them to hotfix stuff on console. For PC there is less to lose because if something imperfect goes live they can easily patch it up within hours, for console updates they need to take their time and make sure everything is in order before initiating this verification process. This is also the reason why console updates tend to bundle as many fixes and new content additions together as possible.

    How can you say all that when I’ve literally provided examples of other companies doing the exact opposite—one in a much worse off position than ZoS. This is hand waving in the extreme. You would think a subsidy of Bethesda could at least be held to the same account as Square Enix, no? They (Bethesda/ ZoS) have like three times the market cap and a stable of talent.

    There is no excuse. Full stop. There is doubly no excuse for releasing a werewolf themed DLC with bugged out werewolves then leaving it for four to six weeks.

    I love this game, and some of the talented folks behind it. But c’mon.

    If other games release console and PC patches on the same day chances are they do it by holding back the PC patch until the console version has passed certification.

    No one is an exception to the certification process. Doesn't matter how much money they have or how well known the studio is. Making exceptions would defeat the point of the process.

    You can choose not to believe it exists if you like, but that doesn't change the fact that it does. If you want to know more about it you can google 'console certification', there are dozens of articles on the topic.

    What @Danikat said. If games are getting same day releases for PC and console updates it's because the devs are purposely releasing the PC update once the console one has been cleared. Zeni basically uses PC patches as testing for their console updates (lol), so they don't employ this method. No amount of money or status lets companies bypass the certification process, except maybe for Uncharted or other games that are owned by Sony/Microsoft.

    Unless you're implying that ZOS should be rich enough to have multiple skilled developers on the payroll pushing console updates through to certification as soon as an issue is identified? I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure they've run the cost/benefit analysis on this and decided that is not the best use of their resources, though.

    Also, FWIW ZOS is not a subsidy of Bethesda. ZeniMax Media owns Bethesda. Bethesda and ZOS are both subsidies of ZeniMax.
