man i guess many are getting fed up with these bots who ''mines'' gold etc to sell for real money on their websites.

this plague could have been prevented if either an active GM was playing and checking these ''farm spots'' and stop this.

or the devs here could just make a patch to remove the auto heavy attack looping which imo shouldnt be hard and it would most likely stop this kind of activity which kind of ruins for other players.

for those who dont know what these ''bots'' do is go as a group (mostly as sorcs with pets) with lots of weak mobs (in this case wolves) and rubberband they attack button to continuesly do heavy attack to kill the mobs with their pets while being AFK with one guy running around collecting the hides/gold and other junk

afterwards they sell the hides and junk for gold then they break the ToS by selling the gold they gotten on various websites for real money.

so dear Devs and Mods here can yah please find a way to end this please.
Go beyond the impossible and kick reason to the curb!

I hate the bots as well but it will never end has long as you have lazy players that continue to purchase from them. And.....that won’t stop as long as you have mind numbing boring gathering mechanics in place to keep people busy.

It would be nice though if they had active GMs going around to crush these very obvious bot trains.
"And it's important to state that our decision to go with subscriptions is not a referendum on online game revenue models. F2P, B2P, etc. are valid, proven business models - but subscription is the one that fits ESO the best, given our commitment to freedom of gameplay, quality and long-term content delivery. Plus, players will appreciate not having to worry about being "monetized" in the middle of playing the game, which is definitely a problem that is cropping up more and more in online gaming these days. The fact that the word "monetized" exists points to the heart of the issue for us: We don't want the player to worry about which parts of the game to pay for - with our system, they get it all."

After 2 days of hunting/reporting them in Grathwood I decided to check newbie zones. I didn't pay attention to them in the past, but it's a nightmare actually. They are everywhere.

The difference I noticed is that those in newbie zones are of different type. If in Grathwood it's a train consisting from 3-4 bots of lvl ~15~20s, that kills easy mobs, then in newbie areas there are solo running lvl 3 node harvesters (thus they cover more area).

Their AI is somewhat similar to the automated vacuum cleaners: if they bump into an obstacle they first try to jump over, and if that doesn't work (in the case of a tall rock, or side of the mountain), they change direction of movement (after the jump attempt of course). One of them got stuck for a minute in the mini village bumping between 3 carts...

Besides improvement of the automated systems for bot detection as @LordSkyKnight mentioned it actually would be good also to have active GMs who would instantly react to reports, come on site, evaluate and ban obvious bots. While I have extremely bad memories about my overall experience in BDO one of good things they had were such GM bot-exterminators and it worked not bad.

Find them, confirm them as bots, report them, and move on. Whether by design or through ZOS, since I started doing that consistently, I haven't seen a single one last longer than 24hrs after the report even on the weekends. Keep the faith, brethren! Report dem botz! ;)

Says something about the XBox pop when you realise the bots have almost all gone. There is a group of them on Stros M'kai on the NA server camping jewelry nodes though. Not seen any on the EU server in a long while.

Dunno if it's possible to detect bots accurately without getting innocent players banned. I mean I myself do a perfect rotation in one zone while farming nodes which usually last 1-3 hours doing the same thing and same routes over and over again, it's frustrating but hey, can't say no to golds.

@ravenarc AI behaves very differently from real player. When you observe those synchronized "trains" for a while or watch those "vacuum cleaners" bumping into walls you can't mistake them for real people.
Plus ZOS verifies reports, so innocents are safe.

Yes, it is possible to detect bots without reporting innocents.

I also hate to say that your "perfect rotation" probably isn't as perfect as you think, and you are probably obviously not a bot to anyone who cares. That is assuming you are not a bot.

Have you noticed that anytime a thread is in the forums that there is NEVER a ZOS reply or comment other than the scripted "use the ingame tool blah blah blah"

Zos has neither the ability or desire to curb bot behaviour.

On a related note: PC NA Bleakrock is busy with bots today.

Did some questing last night in Stros M'Kai, the number of bots camping nodes was... shocking. Simply no other way to describe it. No word of a lie, easily 1/3 of nodes had bots camped on them, instantly mining respawns.

In some parts of the map, it'd be closer to 2/3.

How does the one person gather the mats when you have to get a hit on the mobs in order to have a chance to loot them of any mats. They'd have to be hitting all of them and that's impossible unless they're grouped but then they have to have multiple accounts active on multiple consoles or PCs.

They should do what Blizzard did to kill gold sellers, implement a legit gold trading for ZoS currency whether it's crowns, $ spendable on their shop, or sub time. Botting pretty much died in WoW since you can trade your gold in for blizzard balance cash to buy anything on battle.net. All I see from 'those people' anymore is selling raid carries for real $ and it's pretty rare.

It cleaned up spam so much, I even forgot about them for a long time until I play other games. The way it works is, based on supply/demand (pricing), you buy a token worth $15 at a $20 price, you get gold selling it on auction house, Blizz makes extra $5 , dude gets his 'free' game time for gold, everyone wins.

AH in ESO is atrocious though so Idk if it can work like this.

We try to report them as we run into them.
Issue we are finding is they use a speed hack or something.
You are at a node going to strike and they are on it and your next node and your next, You move to another area and you run into more bots most are dressed the same and have the long sword.
Would be nice if Zoe or devs would do something to stop them.

I don't play anymore, but from what I see, it isn't that great of an idea. It appears to have cheapened the game. I still have friends that play WoW, although not as much as they used to.

I have yet to see a bot on PC NA that runs faster than me. You might be chasing after a legitimate player with CP in fast harvesting. Many do use speed spells, potions, and sets to shorten the time between resources.
