Not sure why you have such a hard time finding them. [removed comment]. I have found about 50 in half a dozen of beach walks. Found 12 Clam galls and ~20 powdered mother of pearl ingredients in them.

And funny enough in the majority of cases that I've encountered one a previous player kindly left it half looted. Ruining the spawn for everyone else.

The respawn timer starts the second the clam is cracked open - it doesn't matter if they leave contents behind or not, timer for respawn is the same - therefore no, they aren't ruining the spawn for anybody else.

Interesting. So you're saying a node that a player leaves garbage in will despawn and respawn again full in the same amount of time that a node emptied would respawn in?
It certainly doesn't seem to work that way. But I have no way to prove it one way or the other.
