People exaggerate differences between them a lot. Go for the lightning and switch to ilambris instead of zaan/skoria, problem solved.

Look at dps parses with an inferno and then deduct 20% to 25% from the fire blockade value (due to engulfing flames). It's not much really.

One thing to understand about these so called differences, is they are usually 1% or less. Unless you have a Perfect Rotation and Tight Resource Management, 1%, heck, even up 5 or 10% is not going to matter. At all. In the game.

Besides, Lightening staffs have better resource return than Inferno and that will help you far more than some piddling 1% difference in some measurement.

Besides, lightning is better to do heavy attacks on with a maelstrom staff when you run low in resources.

Your solo dummy parse will probably go up using a lightning staff due to minor vulnerability but will be lower than with a fire staff in groups.
