Bombblade weapon choice

If i understand correctly your passives apply to gear procs as well as your skills

If thats the case then doesnt lightning staff looks better than 2 one handed swords for bombblade? 2 swords = 5% inc dmg / lightning staff = 8% inc aoe damage

DW passive called Ruffian(15% inc damage on CC`d enemies) says "while using dual wield attacks" but some people say it works with other skills too

Correct me if im wrong on something

    Swords grant higher weapon/spell dmg than a staff and you can use nirn mainhand (which gives almost the full dmg bonus) and a sharpened offhand in addition, which outweighs the loss of 3% dmg from passives.

    could you explain why swords grant higher spell dmg than one inferno staff(assuming its nirnhoned as well)

    I would use 2h, for its passive benefits seem way better.

    2h looks worse as you`ll lose sharpened bonus from your secondary weapon, otherwise it gives the same damage bonus.

    Gold nirn staff = 1535 + 8% AoE dmg + 1 enchant + sustain
    Gold swords nirn/sharp = 2202 + 5% dmg (both AoE & ST) + 1376 penetration + 2 enchants

    EDIT: Gold swords = 1772 spell damage as clarified below.

    thank you, one last(stupid) question, if i understand correctly your secondary weapon`s damage is halved right? that will explain your calculations.

    this is true but we`re speaking about bombblades here mate :)

    DW Nirnhoned + Infused
    1335 * 1.15 + 1335 * 0.177 = 1772 Spell Damage

    either way it will outweigh 3% extra from the lightning staff passive, thank you

    This 30% more stam rec isnt quite usefull for bombblade.

    No bombblade will charge a 2h heavy attack.

    Even tho, the usefull passive from 2h unlocks before the one from dw we are talking what is best damage wise and thats all what a bombblade cares. Damage.

    Just one thinks. Spell damage do not buff proc set like vicious death. And future impulse deal more damage (+25%) than sap essence. (And impulse proc enchant)

    Mmmmmh, lightnning sharpened staff?
