Nightblade cloak/stealth is totally broken.
If your range to another player is ZERO, then you can see them....or at least should be able to see them.
If you are literally standing on another player, WE CAN SEE THEM!.....or at least we should be able to see them.
If you are fighting someone using melee combat, WE CAN SEE THEM!......or at least we should be able to see them.
The NB stealth is so broken in this game it is ruining the pvp experience. The reason more than half of every pvp player is playing NB is because they can fight hand to hand and still remain invisible. This mechanic is ruining the pvp experience.

Cloak/invisibility potions are not the same as crouching

Technically cloak is the same as crouching, except what it does is reduce the detection ranges of 20/10/5 to 0/0/0
Detection is calculated exactly the same.
Invisibility effects are calculated with the chance to see reduction off the back end (like racials, sets). It's also a much larger reduction in detection than cloak is.
And again every wet fart uncloaks nightblades
Try to play nightblade for yourself to see how "broken" it is

I main a Stamblade and i agree with the OP. Ive encountered people who i see cloak, i run right up to their spot and nothing. I can hear them casting buffs, shouting like they were standing on top of me but they're not being detected. So yes something definitely is "broken".

I'm fairly certain that invisibility is granted for more than two seconds when one uses shadow cloak or it's morph shadowy disguise. Also if one crouches before the invisibility effect wears off you'll still be hidden and that's when detection radius becomes significantly important.
What I meant is that if someone is only hidden due to crouching then they can easily be detected just by getting close enough to that player. As you mentioned there are racial passives and sets that effect detection radius, but when one is truly invisible and not simply hidden you'll need to use some kind of counter, since the person will not be revealed just by standing next to them.
i have not seen ALL the mmo's on the internet, but i can tell u for a fact that eso is the only mmo that i have ever seen that allows your invisibility to be removed simply because u are "close" to an enemy player.

I've noticed sound bugs in the game over the past few months, and where there's one sound bug, there's probably more. As an example, there have been many times when picking a lock I hear not only my own lock-picking sounds, but also some one else's lock picking sounds (different than mine) and they are so loud that I could swear they are picking the same lock as I am (but no one else is there). Have you ever heard a bard singing in you home despite the fact that no bard is there? This game is on a 'mega server' and people occupy their space in the game via instances ... and while instances technically overlap, they are supposed to maintain their separateness from one another. I am convinced there is some audio bleed-over in these instances.
Pvp'ers are more likely to notice audio bleed-overs because their attention is focused on whomever they are fighting. On the surface it would be easy to assume the problem is related to cloak, but things aren't always what they initially appear to be. I am convinced there is some sort of bug or coding conflict having to do with the 'mega-server' causing audio bleed-overs. The more we pay attention to it and report it, the faster it is likely to get identified and fixed.
Cloak is overpowered. NB mains denying that are hilarious. No other ability does so much and is as biased towards the user counter wise. The counters are either: Play a build that has natural ones like stamsorc...or NB. Or *** yourself vs everyone else to counter something overpowered.
However OP. You are wrong. Its magic, as in you cannot see them without revealing.
Your complaints from other posts too, where you act as if its impossible, are baseless and show a complete lack of knowledge on how it works. If you are on them, and cast a revealing ability, it will reveal. Server-client delay may trick you on where they are. There is however a bug where some abilities have been cloaked before, but this is rare and is shown by a "miss."

Cloak isn't an invisibility effect.
You can easily test it with on nearly any non-Bosmer/khajiit nightblade and the way of air set. I played around with it for a while and every non racial or set bonus nightblade is detectable at close range while cloaking.
Basically... they will be revealed at 2 meters. The Stealth reduction races would still have a -1 detection range, others wouldn't.
Crouch (basic stealth detection) is much easier to find. It's also far Far easier to find with detection.
Invisibility wouldn't be detected. Like I said a medium armor stamblade with 5 pieces or more medium (bosmer/khajiit only require 4 pieces) won't even be revealed by a detect pot while "invisible", but will be if cloaked.
