If I don’t have friends online yet or haven’t unlocked wayshrines does that mean I have to ride good ol’ Sweetroll across Tamriel? I’ll be lead to a boat then ride to where it says only to keep riding across Tamriel and then having to take a cart somewhere.. to do more Sweetroll riding. Is this right?

✭✭✭✭✭Yes. You can take boats or carts to different regions and then ride or walk to unlock Wayshrine.
Or you could join a guild and travel to other players via the roster and the "Travel to Player" option.
Or you could begin zone chat for someone to port you.
Or you could buy a house in a region and use that as a port location.
There are ways. Traveling until you unlock wayshrines or traveling via guild roster are the easiest.1 -
Grayfax✭✭✭Walking is the best way. You pick up so much crafting material finding new wayshrines.5
