Hello all. Not a nerf this, someone is cheating, why does this happen cry thread. Was just curious about the way this skill works in combination with heavy attacks and a follow up focused aim. Got pretty much one shotted a few times with this in Cyro last night. Recap showed two focused aims and a heavy attack which at like 14k a piece on the FA's, definitely did the trick. :D Is this just ani canceling the first and immediately firing again or am I missing something? The death was instant and all.the damage taken in a second or less. I thought about lag but I had decent ping all night. Props to this marksman as I watched him literally do this to every single person that passed, of various classes and ranks all the way up to Grand Warlord. When I say watched I mean watched them die of course, no one could see this sniper. Again, no salt, no hate, just trying to understand to be better prepared next time.

    This could have been due to pvp lag, or possibly just range. The arrow travels before it lands so you can fire an arrow (can't animation cancel it's 1s cast), weave a light or heavy attack and fire again. Turn your volume up and dodge roll when you hear the distinctive focused aim sound.

    Thank you for that. Tis true I was jamming out to the tunes while pvping and would not have heard it. At least I wasn't the only dummy that missed the sound as he must have felled 6 or 7 people that ran past in about a minute.

    No worries. The damage is increased the further the archer is away, so it may have just been a high damage gank build sitting on a grassy knoll! It should be fairly easy to dodge roll if you hear it coming.

    I was wondering about the skill. Like I don't know if it's just some server lag or what because it's the only skill where my health remains untouched until a death recount pops up and it's all lethal arrow spam. I'm a healer templar in heavy armor so it's no problem to outheal that with ease.

    People sit here and defend the most disgustingly broken ability in the game as "a function of travel time" or "lag.

    The issues with snipe are numerous. Half the time, the audio que does not fire. This means that it can be impossible to predict at times. In addition to this, like all ranged ccs and knockbacks on liv, the snipe cc from stealth is currently broken and causes a desynced application of the "Cc'd" state, so it actually becomes 100% impossible to avoid if it ccs you. Come murkmire, it will be even more impossible to avoid snipes because of the broken travel time and the way projectiles will be interacting with snipe.

    From someone with 5,000 hours of solo/small scale pvp: this ability is broken, and the reason so many people defend it as travel time or a product of lag, is because it is truthfully the only way half of the DD'S in pvp can secure a kill. It takes no skill or coordination whatsoever to land 3-5 of these from stealth, and your opponent rarely has an opportunity to react, especially if they're fighting outnumbered.

    It's something zenimax should have corrected ages ago, but never actually will. Maybe a year from now when the next set of master class weapons get added to the game and theres a bow that buffs snipe directly they'll consider fixing it.

    Ok, so, if it's not lag or travel time, then what is it? I've never had a snipe fire instantly or gone ninja and stuck three arrows in my bow? It's a lag issue, that doesn't mean there isn't possibly a problem with it I.e. perhaps arrows not registering instantly, but that problem is caused by lag.

    Some suggest taking away the travel time, but I actually think that makes the problem worse, as when using it without lag it makes a very distinctive noise, which is the time to dodge roll or block, so without that you wouldn't be able to defend.

    I'm currently playing a bow build, but not a gank build. I'm happy to fight you in melee range using magnum shot etc. I don't find it particularly fun to sit back spamming snipes hoping for kills, so yes, I agree that style takes no skill.

    Fear CC break, then cage same MO, snipe.

    Things get excused and reasons floated,but we all know they have weird behaviours.

    Yea I can see what everyone is talking about. Since posting this thread I've had it happen a few more times. I'm getting no audio clues or visual clues of attack. Just fall down and die out of nowhere with a recap of Focused-->Heavy Atk-->Focused. All seem to hit at the same time with no way to react. No likey at all. 3 unseen attacks, all at once, about 30k dmg worth. Yikes

    The thing is, the archers who build for this will die if you catch them in the field, so I think it's a reasonable risk-reward proposition. You will say it's not fair, but open world is not dueling. There should be a place for stealthy archers. They even play a strategic role in defending keeps and cutting off reinforcements.

    I tend to agree but still think it's a little broken. With the right setup guys like this are one shotting full tank builds due to the way it works. You're never gonna find these guys first off, and secondly if you do, depending on class and gear you're not really sacrificing anything in the way of defense. This is essentially an all reward no risk strategy at the moment.

    Roll dodge heal or you die. I use snipe. The people that don't use roll dodge and heal will die every time. People who know how to roll dodge and heal don't die from it. Roll dodge, heal, buff up and fight or run.

    Yea that's still broken then. I believe this is what's already happening. The hit is not registering and two are able to hit at the same time plus a heavy attack. At least that's what I keep seeing on recaps. A friend was standing right beside me last night when I got the headshot and laughed because I literally just fell in an instant. Then he got it. No indication, no sounds. 2 from the same person at the same time to the face for the instant kill. Watched it happen over and over to everyone. I must admit it is funny when I'm mounted though. Since it registers all three attacks at once I die in the seated position on my horse as if nothing happened. :D

    Maybe an addon that amplifies just the snipe audio cue would help, still doesn’t help in lag though. This is where Miat’s addon really helped in spite of some of the broken things older versions of it did.

    I believe if they just made it where you could not Snipe from stealth/invisibility, that these issues would all but disappear. Functionally that is the primary limitation on Mag Sorc and Mag Templar gank setups. Otherwise they have more killing potential with true ranged executes and unodgeable skills.

    I'm not saying it should be changed, only I think stealth/invisibility mechanics are the root of these problems. There Mag equivalents to Snipe, but they cannot be used from stealth/invisibility. Starting the cast makes you visible.
