No one in PVP

EDIT : It's for EU serv, so one more time i'm not in the good part :unamused:

Hey everybody ! I saw that a lot of changes in PVP population.

Week's days :
-Almost no fights before 3pm
-Vivec full between 8pm and midnight.
-Shor between 1 or 2 bar of pop.

Week-end :
-Vivec inplayable.
-Shor empty.

So, for you no problem ? For me, the problem is the low population in ESO PVP. A lot of players stopped PVP or stopped the game and the lag has mutated.

This reduction of PVP population can be explain by two things :

-The PVP is so much laggy or the community mentality scary somes players, so they quit the game.
-The PVP need more matter (maybe DLC) and they waitting it, but not in PVP

To this problem of low population, i have both solutions :

-Try to change the development of the game for a competitive PVP (No, i know what you think, but no, this game isn't competitive)
-Increase publicity or publicity management for that Old players back to PVP/game and bring some new players.

Thank you all for reading.

Driving people away is the big issue right now.

Creating a class reps program who lay out all the problem areas, ignoring it then completely gutting areas of the game that didn't need to change. Wrecking peoples classes / enjoyment and undermining the whole point of them 'listening'

Worry less about getting people IN, MYM event was packed, IC too - focus on keeping them, and stop annoying those that love it would be my advice.

Oh and stop the blatant exploiting and AP boosting/flipping/alliance switching for nefarious purposes.

    Just a start...lol

Since people can gild their jewels themselves, the cheap meat who dislikes PvP has no reason to go there any more.

Those who enjoy PvP but hate lag - though did it because of the jewels - don't do it any more.

Not to mention that this WE many players will be on Artaeum and Summerset. Are you scared now? Would you prefer them not being there?

There is no real incentive to do PVP. Most of the time it is just not fun with all that riding half an hour to get killed by NB burst, loading screens and lags. The only solution is to run in massive zerg groups, which could be fun, but in the end you won't get anything tangible for your effort.

There are many better PVP options (in other multiplayer games) that don't require you to farm sets, keep them actual with changing meta.

The lack of incentive for people to enter cyrodiil is the issue.

Great we get AP for the gold vendor but pve guys can buy their stuff with gold in it.

AP is basically worthless and so is Telvar. They seriously need to add something pve players would crave and desire to cyrodiil to get them out there.

too much dedication required to play pvp. You can't play pvp casually. You have to dedicate to it. Research builds, abilities, tactics. Learn and exercise. Craft potions and poisons, analyze every buff and debuff. If you want a quick pvp with equally skilled players, you can't.

It was always the case that you had to be better at the game to pvp. They have spent the last 4 years attempting to water down the impact of player skill and replace it with player armour sets. This helps to sell expansions when people buy Vvardenfell to get Sloads, but it doesn't help the game in the long run.

Problem with introducing sets is that those sets are then used by the good players to wreck casuals even more easily.

If they want to genuinely help casuals to PVP then they should be introducing some sort of league tables system which separates out players based on skill.

I am still here because this is still the most fun combat system for me despite the devs best efforts to undermine it. I will certainly move on as soon as a player-skill-driven combat game comes along that I like.

These changes make me want to avoid spending money on the game though. that is a shame.

yes, MMR (match making rating) system or ranking based on divisions. But i`m not sure there are enough players for that. I personally never stood too much in queue for BGs, but guildmates always complain how long BG queue is. Imagine the length if u had to wait for a player with same MMR.

they could reduce the things that complicate it so much. Why do weapons and armor have to have traits? Poisons could be reduced from 30% cost to 15%, just like the siphoner CP. Potions should have a lower so powerful impact.

Overall, there are too many things to work for in order to be barely competitive in pvp. I understand it's an MMO and grinding and working is part of it, but at least help the player understand those things.

The problem with PVP is inherent in it's design. To be competitive requires a significant elevation of knowledge and skills. While we shouldn't take anything away from those who put in the time and effort to achieve that, the newbies coming in get tired real quickly of dying a thousand deaths and not being able to compete. Now you can tell them to "git gud", but they won't and they'll just leave. You end up with a very small population of decent to good player who spend most of their time running around trying to find a battle.

I love PVP and spend most of my time in Cyrodiil. However, with general game designed combined with technical issues (lag, sprint bug, etc.) you end up with a very high frustration level most players simply do not want to deal with.

I would say it slightly different, because Cyrodiil might not be that popular any more, battlegrounds however are. Maybe people have become lazy like in PvE, where people not even actually go to the dungeons.

Most people don't fight for anything any more other than their own rewards now, so they don't care about any loyalties. Just like with any of the alliances most people choose their "friends" according to a certain performance they expect from you and if that should not be the case anymore, you'll be replaced.

So what else should result out of that, than a trend towards something that doesn't require any organization for seiging walls and all kinds of tactical thinking? Much easier, no expenses no "riding simulator", easy money - a perfect reflection of today's society.
You reveal yourself best in how you play.

Why would anyone expect Cyrodiil to be busy when there's a major new patch on the PTS (one that directly impacts on PvP) and a special event on the live servers that encourages players to run around Summerset on both regional servers?

because there are people that ONLY play pvp in this game, they dont have time to download another 80gb game and in general they dont have time to test things in PTS. Either way they will be changed again in some way.
How exactly does the event encourage me to just run around in summerset ? its a 5minute thing to complete.

People need to stop using lame excuses to "counter" one's question by saying something completely irrelevant, so that our precious devs will not get sad (no one ever)

Lack of purpose and development is huge for me. It's stale and just boring at this point. It's like the war in afghanistan, most people don't care or know that it's still going on.

    In terms of development:
    Since release, we have:
    IC/Sewers
    Flags at towns
    dueling
    BGS

    1. IC/Sewers are great. The design is wonderful. Yet the creativity is lacking and it needs to be revisted.

They could allow people to enter from any port.
Added a jewelry trait to the vendor (they missed that opportunity). This would give people a reason to go there
Adjust market cost. You can but 1 pewter for 50 telvar......Just no. They didn't even put the end game jewelry crafting mat. why???
Add weapon sets. Have "the golden" visit the sewers and have a weapon box. For example, the ability to get a box to open a BSW weapon box.

    2. Flags in towns......It's a good idea and I like that they have armor sets but as long as those armor sets are worthless (accept for a handful) there is no incentive. It's not worth holding on to.

    3. Dueling- There is a community around this but it should have been in a LONG time ago

4 BGs- Great addition. It's fun to log in, play, and log out. However, elder scrolls appeal has always been the open world.

So that's it!!!! all of pvp's content in 4 years.

    In PVE
With DLC's, there are around 26 different zones. Zones filled with quests, dungeons ect
    5 per faction +1 island: 17
    Craglorn/coldharbor +2
DLC/expansions: Thieves, dark brotherhood, wrothgar, morrowind, clockwork city, summerset, Artuam +7

So PVP- 2 zones and PVE 26ish (I might be off)

    PVE:
    7 trials
    24 dungeons

    PVP: 4 BG maps

This is not to put down PVErs or not say they shouldn't have new content. I just want to share why there is a die off in PVP. Lack of creativity, not one new siege, mechanic, adding weapons sets ect. It's very very stale in pvp

Yep.... Night-capping followed by morning-capping, players swapping teams just to farm more AP and make sure their "home" alliance will win, scroll trolling, carrying scrolls directly to other alliance (your friends) etc. etc. I could make a separate thread if I was to type all kinds of exploits...

I will tell you this: If there was a separate campaign that would have an alliance lock (like it used to be in the past - to prevent people from re-logging / team swapping) I would play on it as my home campaign.

btw. it does not matter if it would be 7 day campaign, or even under-populated with 3 bars only in weekends or something like that. I would still play it - just because it would not have that much toxicity & exploits like we have now....

I understand that the lag was caused by them moving a lot of calculations, such as player movement speed, from client to server. This change stopped some speed hackers (and presumably other types of hacks) but, in the process, overloaded the server and screwed up Cyrodiil.

At this point in the game's life, I would happily accept a few hackers in order to have performance return to what it was in first few months.

i don't even want them to invest resources and time in PVP too much.

pvp is bad as it is because of all the work and dedication it requires for a minimum of competitivity. Imagine if they released many more BG maps, smaller Cyrodill areas, etc. There would be more sad empty space.

From what I can tell after recent ISP issues I had, each area that you load into appears to indeed correspond to a single server. E.g. a Cyrodiil campaign is handled by a single server, whereas IC appears to have two servers, one for the sewers, one for the districts.

If a lot of the needed calculation could be done on the client in the past, exactly what is stopping ZOS from putting additional server(s) in front of the Cyrodiil instance server? In other words:

    Original game configuation

Client = What the client does today + additional calculations
Server = What the server does today - additional calculations

    Current game configuration

Client = What the client did originally - additional calculations
Server = What the server did originally + additional calculations

    Proposed game configuration

Client = What the client does today
Additional server between Client and Cyrodiil server = additional calculations
Cyrodiil Server = What the server did originally

This is wrong way to go. It would make PVP more toxic if another part of playerbase was required to get into PVP for something really important.

First of all, ZOS needs to add more motifs available for AP. Ordinator was a good way to go while it lasted. Lately all new motifs are added via PVE, while PVP is neglected.
I wonder, if adding furnishing available for Tel Var or AP will work as incentive(swords, shields, helms, outfits which we wanted for a long time).
Current system with rank furnishings is fine only if you want to have a pair of catapults in your manor courtyard
