I like that they're giving people an option to get a mount and house through gameplay. I'd like to see them do more of that, so I care about that part. I'll be happy if the people who are excited about this actually get the stuff.

housing is at least half the reason I play and I loved Villa when I first saw it, (even if I had resigned not getting it, since I'm not buying anymore crown only houses, so it being a reward made me super happy). I also love pretty mounts and pets and don't have the hangup about exclusivity (the more the merrier, I like what I like becasue of how it looks not becasue of how rare it is)

I do think we are getting a house, unless ZoS is not as smart as I thought they were.

    why?

not only will they have hard time getting players to care about any future community events they may want to run, but it also makes the game look bad if community doesn't look like its active and involved enough to hit these goals. and I'm pretty convinced that main goal here is to get people to buy summerset. since I'm fairly sure a lot of people didn't ever since the whole "oh morrowind is now part of ESO plus, even though we originally called it a chapter and made you pay separately to get it."

I care about it enough to have done it on both servers on Xbox, and I'll be doing it on both servers on PC. I'm doubtful that we'll hit the target for the house though, which is a shame in my eyes.
It's a great chance for the community to band together and get something decent for very little work. It could be the start of something good.

The house would be nice I guess, but don't particularly care. Whatever number they picked out of thin air we likely passed on the first day, but they won't show that of course because it would be very bad marketing to do so. They'll show the bar slowly tick upwards right until the end to keep the suspense up. This event is simply a way to sell a lot more copies of Summerset, and that's fine, and good even. I'm all for it if it helps keep the lights on. Given the growing international war on loot boxes they are very likely going to begin exploring many more alternative marketing techniques like this, especially if this one is as successful as it appears to be.

I think they pretty much have to give the house away at the end because, even if by some chance we didn't meet their magic "number", not doing so would be extremely bad PR and push an already frayed relationship with a lot of players over the edge.

To those who think that giving the house away to everyone will hurt them monetarily though, that couldn't be further from the truth. Speaking from long experience in the field it probably required two to four days of a single artist's time to put together, mostly by reusing and modifying assets that are found all over the region, not expensive at all in the grand scheme of things. Aside from the increased Summerset sales, which probably outweighs the cost of creating the content at least a hundred fold, they'll make a ton from the crown store on furnishing packs. Few can afford to furnish such a place in a fitting Altmer fashion, given the intentionally high in-game cost of creating furniture in that style. It may briefly slow down crown store sales of other houses, but not for long. I think many people get bored of them easily and eventually want a fresh or more conveniently located pad.

Yes, I did it on both servers. I don't care for pet and mount but my housing obsession is pretty excited about the house (even though I'm not sure we will get it) - I'm not going to be able to buy it otherwise since it's crowns only and I have some rigid boundaries on buying crowns (otherwise I'd go bankrupt).

And I do not connect it with patch notes. I'm excited about the event, worried about patch notes but I don't see why I can't enjoy a bit of a cooperative event.

I care about the event enough that, sure, I want free stuff and FOMO, so I did it 8 times on 4 accounts -- 4 on PC/NA server and 4 on PC/EU server, so 8 towards the 'tally' by myself, alone.
But it was super fast/easy to do when one has a Desktop and Laptop and can leap-frog wayshrines off of oneself and not have to rely on others.

After earning 20+ mil AP around Midyear Mayhem and over 1 mil Tel Var during the Imperial City Anniversary event, this 'please auto-run to locations for free stuff' event was a nice break from the PvP scene, to avoid burnout (especially with the game-play/combat changes coming in the Murkmire update).

Sure, the Summerfall event's free pet, mount, and house are nice incentives. If there were no incentives, then no one would participate. ZOS is a business, not a charity fund. Obviously they want more Summerset sales for pure profit and to show off to investors/quarterly financial/growth earning meetings and whatever. They are a private company. Us players aren't privy to their exact means and ends, but we can make educated guesses and read between the lines.
It is simple: ZOS wants profit, we (players) want entertainment (however broad/vague entertainment is). It is in both of our best interests for the game to do well. Otherwise, we wouldn't be playing it and discussing it.

Do I care if we do not reach the 100% goal/meter for the house? Well, not really, only because I already own the Linchal Grand Manor (furnished) for over a year now, and for Linchal Grand Manor, one had to spend crowns. A lot of crowns.
Would I be salty that everyone who participated got a free $100-crown-equivalent unfurnished notable home? Sure, maybe a little. But if I got it for free, too; then, no, not really.

Plus, I already contributed 8 unique points towards the tally -- far more than most other players could say.
It would even be 10 tally points if the 5th account owned Summerset, but I'm not planning on spending any of my own money for this population-contest event, lol. Especially since we aren't even yet half-way to the event's end-goal.

But, feel free to gift me Summerset if one wants the free, unfurnished house badly enough!
Otherwise, get ready to pay $100 for that house in the crown store soon enough, because achieving 100% does not look likely, given the community's current progress rate.

I did more than enough, on my part, that's all I can really say! :)

I think it's nice people get a sense of community out of the event. However, I couldn't care less about mounts, pets, or houses. Proposed Murkmire changes are killing my enthusiasm and going to Summerset just makes me want to punch a High Elf in the mouth. Not my idea of entertainment. :/

Honestly, anytime ZOS throws us a bone for free, we should take advantage. I have also actually seen a more positive shift in zone chats as well since the event started - as in, people actually helping people. It’s been really nice to see that.

I enjoyed the cooperative spirit (and fun) of someone on EU taking the time to port a group of us all around to the necessary way shrines and points as we bumbled about on our incredibly slow mounts. I also quite like the whole Psijic thing, so yeah, it's not edgy or hip or cool, but I care and hope we get all the shinies!

I'm not personally that bothered by the event rewards, but am doing my bit for those that are keen on them because anything that is designed to bring the community together across and between the servers, all working together in the pursuit of free gifts surely cannot be a bad thing even in the most jaundiced minds of the posters of unrelenting negativity, can it?

I have several houses already. Don't particularly want or need another but if we get it then that's awesome. I know there are a lot of people who do want it, so hopefully we can accomplish this.

For the most part I've seen nothing but people trying to help others out towards getting the achievement in zone. A few negative Nancy's here and there they to spoil the fun but, really, they've probably secretly done it if not on one server than another. They're the same people who complain about everything and feel entitled to something free and when we are basically given something for free like the psijic pet, horse, and house, they complain because its gated behind an event. And even when they give us free things like pets or whatever they complain because it's not what THEY wanted.

I just think it's nice that ZOS is doing events that require more than people farming dark anchors or world bosses or killing things. An event that brings the community together and has people helping one another achieve a common goal. Would be nice to see other similar events in the future.
