Is there anything like haste for ESO? (Lag/Ping reducing service?)

Cause Lag is really starting to p**s me off lately.

We have a game with reactive combat, but can't properly react cause the game does whatever it wants behind the scenes.

You can have the best reflexes and reactions in the world, but sooner or later the game will punish your for having a bad connection...

Then your resources start messing up too, your stamina/magicka pools jump around like they're on crack back and forth, your resources somehow never recover the way they're supposed to or they just seem skip recovery ticks entirely. It's no wonder so many of us get so mad over ESO's combat and PvP, when half of the stuff that you NEED to play, doesn't even work most of the time.

I don't think that the problem here is their hardware, servers and stuff. If so , they would have fixed it long ago. Unless ofc they are so greedy, and decided not give a single f@k about server performance. The problem lies imho into the game's netcode or core code in general, where there is little to be done via anything but rewriting it ftom scratch

That could be a contributing factor, in particular since they are using TCP connections. On the other hand it's probably more firewall friendly than UDP.

It's possible that a good VPN provider may improve latency by getting you closer to Frankfurt (EU server location) and using UDP to create the VPN link. Furthermore one VPN, Speedify, uses channel bonding to improve stability and latency by using multiple physical connections, such as your landline and a 4G device simultaneously. I have not tried it.

ZOS server lag is real. Internet lag tends to be sporadic and extreme when it happens. At peak time in Cyrodiil, however, in-game ping reduces consistently by something like 30ms to 60ms for me (from 120ms to 150ms - 180ms). That might not sound like much, but it's enough to make the game feel unresponsive. This consistently happens when Cyrodiil is population locked, so it's quite clear that ZOS' servers, or their internal network, can't cope.

How badly these problems affect you can also depend on your rig. I seem to have a lower tolerance for lag than other players and recently found out that my screen, a projector, adds about 150ms of input lag. It all adds up.

I have tried using my 2 servers on germany via vpn. The problem is the same. Different route but the same lag

Depends on where the issue lies in your case. Personally, my connection is typically fine in-game these days, outside of Cyrodiil that is. If you think that the issue might at all be on your end though, there is a service called Pingzapper that I used to use years ago that supposedly helps with ping.

My ping was so terrible back then that Pingzapper couldn’t make a difference (thanks, satellite internet..), but I think that it gives you a free trial, so it might be worth checking out for you.

Every time I traceroute them I get low pings (<10 ms) on every router until it gets to akamai (then suddendly goes 140-180)... and we are talking about ICMP returned by routers wich is a much more fast response than an ingame ping.

ZOS's use of Akamai for DDoS protection is far and away the biggest cause of latency to ESO game servers.

Don't expect ZOS to engage in a conversation about it though.

I use WTFast, a canadian vpn. They lower my average ping to the game by about 40, however the game still suffers from lag in pvp and constant spikes. I dont think i can fix that on my end..

YouTube is down, the entire domain. So perhaps this is not ZOS's fault.

Yes, but after the Murkmire patch it only works for four seconds at a time.
