Crafting some gear for a new char and I’m wondering what is the best trait if I wanna optimise pickpocketing?

For pickpocketing there is no optimal trait.

For the events that might occur togheter with pickpocketing, they exist.

You could use swift jewels for easier getting away. On armor you could use infused to boost your stam and mag, just in case you meet a guard who takes things way too seriously. Or divine, if you get the right mundus bliss.

On weapons, I would go for sharpened or defensive.

More important are pickpocketing sets and the right char. A Bosmer or Khajiit NB would be perfect. 5 pieces Night Mother’s Embrace, 3 pieces Night Terror, 4 pieces which give you extra stamina or magicka, like Necropotence. Or, if you want to craft your jewels in swift, make Seducer, or after the next patch, Might of the Lost Legion.

I would guess either well fitted for when you get caught and have to run or invigorating so you can sneak a bit longer?

Combine these 3 things to make pickpocketing easier (because you are less likely to get seen).

    - 5 piece Nightmother's Embrace
    - 3 piece Night Terror
    - Khajiit or Bosmer for the racial radius reduction

5x Night Mother's Embrace (armor and/or weapons, well-fitted, infused or divines)
4x Vesture of Darloc Brae (same as above)
3x Night Terror (preferable jewelry, robust or swift)

All 3 sets are medium armor, all 3 have the "Reduces the radius you can be detected while Sneaking by 2 meters. Reduces the cost of Sneak by X%", sneak cost reduction is 62% in total (respectively 25+10+27), also 6 meters of radius of detection reduction.

If you are a vampire (stage 4 with passive), have medium armor and legerdemain sneaky passives, and is a Nightblade or have some invisibility potions, you will be good for all stealth content in ESO.
