I've been playing this game for a few years now so I guess the lag is something I'm used to. You are correct light attacks do increase your dps significantly. It takes alot of practice. Also programs like mudfish or battleping can help decrease your ping from Australia, using a better node to connect to their server I've seen my ping drop to below the 230ms mark but sometimes it can be really unstable.
@Androconium - have you tested the mobile data routers? Satellite will probably be horrible, but mobile data can be fine. I play only on mobile, but in my case that's in a city, so my tower is connected to the fibre backbone.
Whenever I go look up some DPS build online, there’s always the common ‘light attack in between skills’, and I watch DPS vids and I’m like how. With ping ranging from 250 on good days, and 340 on bad - it is literally impossible to do this mystical thing called light attacking between skills because theres too much of a delay to do it efficiently like most dps builds work. And this applies to everything skill wise, more often than not, I’d go to use a skill and it wouldn’t even fire.
On my stamDK, I run hundings, velidreth and vicious ophidian (mostly gold), and I still struggle and only pull 22k dps, if not less. I wanna know if I’m doing something wrong, or if other aussies experience this issue with lag and such, and if light attacking between skills really does boost dps signifcantly. Where timing is critical for DDs, lag has kinda forced me to move over to healing and tanking.
What do you other aussies pull?
I'm not Aussie but get crap ping when playing on the PTS, still manage decent numbers tho (on mag, bows don't mix well with lag in my experience)

The only trouble I have is NB and bow procs with 300 ping, not sure if its a l2p issue or ping. How often do you do 3 bow procs per cast with the aussie ping? I find it hard to do the perfect nb rotation and its least forgiving since it relies on light atk/procs.
Hail is the killer for me & caltrops not firing first time

35+ with a 300 ms connection is totally doable, as long as the ping is fairly constant. If it jumps around with more than about 50 ms I struggle.
As for SynneYviete pulling those numbers - I don't doubt that they're real. I get 40k, and the amount of time I've spent in front of the dummy really isn't enough to expect more than what I'm getting.
Ping is easy to blame. It is easier to blame ping than to really put in effort to up your DPS. And as long as you believe that your ping is beating you, you will be beaten by yourself. Been there, I was also a firm believer that my ping was the only culprit. I can't speak for 400 ms ping. But 300 ms ping isn't as bad as many her believe.
