Sorc Nerf is Overreaction

Remember that the PTS is a public test server. Not the live server. It is for testing after all and ZoS can and I believe they will adjust sorcs appropriately before or at the launch of Murkmire.

I just hate to hear people saying they are leaving the game over this change that isn't even a live change yet. Do we forget when Deltia left the game over the Morrowind Patch because of Templar changes? It's been said a thousand times: The PTS patch cycle is slow for updates, and it's not really for testing changes. It's mostly for fixing game-breaking bugs that players find. The fact is that 99% of what is uploaded onto the PTS will make it onto Live - this is how it has been for every PTS cycle before, and there is no evidence to support the idea that it will change.

The cast time added to shields was a bad change for every mag character, and significantly handicaps mag survivability across the board. People have a right to be upset about it, and it's important that they voice their concerns NOW if there will be any chance of a second pass update during this PTS cycle.

ZOS said this nerf will likely stay even after they heard the community uproar after.
They pushed unpopular nerfs before and they aren’t afraid to do it again.

That's called sending a message. Do we really need to wait for this to go live before we start shaking things up in the forums? Nope. That's too docile for my taste.

What happened in Morrowind? People got freaked out, then adapted to the new meta.

Shield casting won’t be interruptable that’s for sure. With 1s cast time I’m totally fine.

The streamers I've seen playing around on the pts hasn't been too terrible. (No, I haven't seen every single streamer.)
@Xynode for example, went into vMA on pts and did just as well as he's always done with a magsorc.
After alittle adjustment, like with literally every change, I think it's going to be fine.
Sorc was my first character, is still my main, and no matter what they do to it or take/add to it, I'm always going to play it.

Personally I think the sorc shield nerf was too much. First of all they added the cast time, AND they changed how shields work entirely! They honestly should just keep all the other changes (such as shields being critable, and accounting resistances), but remove the cast time and have it as it was before. Now THAT would be a good change.

See, this point is lost on way too many MMO players. Most of the general population are adults either in college or well into their 20s and 30s. For someone to suggest that any player wait YEARS OF THEIR LIFE for changes to make playing something bearable is just far too much to ask. Especially when the developer of said game doesn't care about player loyalty and is far more focused on playing the shareholder game of profit.

So you go ahead and wait and remain loyal to the game, and as each wrinkle and gray hair starts to appear maybe you'll begin to ask yourself if it was worth it.

Deltia left because he was tired of gaming overall, the Morrowind changes were only an excuse. Now he is obsessed with bodybuilding and looks like angry chihuahua/pitbull mix - he replaced one addiction with another...
As for the nerf-panic, it happens with every major update. First everybody screams end of Nirn, then we adapt and life goes back to normal - which means usual PvP'ers whining "nerf this or that", "Molag balls are OP" and stuff.

Have you heard anyone from ZOS actually say this? Or is this just an assumption? You know what people say about assumptions....

Anyway, I don't play my sorc much anymore. But, I will say that I feel that the change to Dark Exchange is the biggest issue for Sorcs. Or for my play style anyway. The skill needed a nerf though. Being able to basically go from no health and no magic to full on both in like 2 seconds was one of the Sorcs over powered skills imo. But, changing it to regin over 20 SECONDS? That is longer than most fights you have in Cyrodiil. Because of that, the skill will be pretty much pointless for PvP which sucks.

Is this your first pts?

Like 95% of the changes always make it in.

Zos is too proud and stubborn to listen to player feedback whatever decision they first make they'll stick with whether it kills a class or not.

They only change things over a year later and make it sound like it was there well though out balancing idea when really it was player feedback from over a year ago.

I've been on the edge of leaving for a while. The shield nerf will be the straw that broke the camel's back. I like to solo mid level with my dad (in his 70's). We will both quit as we don't have the time or desire to change out of our Sorc builds.

Has it really? I am not so sure about that. I am not sure the end game PVE community has quite recovered from the fiasco that was morrowind. Countless raid groups have disbanded. There are still the same 2-3 groups on top of the leaderboards, but the gap to the second tier guilds has widend significantly. I certainly cant say with a straight face that the PVE community is healthier than it was pre-morrowind. As to PVP, well its a different issue, but that seems to get worse every day from both a balance and performance standpoint. I think there are a lot of people that would say yes if given the opportunity to rewind the clock a year and a half.

This will make it live probably even a bit worse then it seems now.

Once upon a time, timmy, Jimmy, Sammy and bob decides to go for a run in battle Grounds. They team up on their magsorcs and starts the death match, confident that this will be a fun match. They run together and meet a lone dw stamden on the way.

They quickly starts to shield up but then they all end up taking a dump instead,? :O

Stuck in that vulnerable second, mr wardens subassault/dawnbreaker/spin2win fires of, and that was the Day 100s of nerf warden threads came to life and the class got destroyed.. May the wardens R. I. P, and all the other classes that meets Jimmy, Timmy, Sammy and Bob on the battlefield, along with other magsorcs and magblades...

But nevermind, We should not overreact ☺️

You're not. It still makes me chuckle when people say things like "this is PTS! It's not even live yet!" when time after time, it makes it live, bugs and all. I guess here is to hoping the nonsense doesn't make it to live for the first time in ESO history.

Back on topic: Most reactions on the forums are overreactions and sorc isn't "dead" in the sense it'll be useless, but unless the testing I've done and a few others have done (which is possible, if not likely lol) then sorc is in a pretty "meh" place in pve. Sustain is still kinda mediocre, and damage is just "okay". Pvp they should still be okay but I don't like how it feels pretty much everything is heavy or bust these days.

It is not an overreaction.

Frankly sorc palyers dosent like this changes for a good reason.

You see most of the sorc nerfs comes from PVP players demands, but they cant realise that those changes also effect PVE as well, becasue ZOs cant separate the 2 gaming mod.

And sorc players had enough of the uncapable Meles childish QQ about demanding sorc nerfs whyle they basicly one hitt killign everyone that dosent matter right? Only that matters when a sorc shield spamming and swapping bar to burst you down, well hello shield spamming is the only thing wich is keeps sorcerers allive against the OP meles. and also the high burst is comes from the class.

Saying it is over performing is a clear BS becasue sorceres havving more struggle then any Mele in this god damn game when it comes to PVP.

So basicly the whole cry for sorc nerf is nothing more then a bunch of players who cant dodge roll, cant reflect cant cloak in time or cant use invisible potion in time.or cant block in time cant CC in time, or tehy simply dosent have any clues about ther classes and their skills arsenals at all. If you gyus have a reaction time delay against sorcerers thats not ZOS fault and not the sorcerers class fault, it is your fault

So Sorc palyers had enough of this unfair treatment thats why they "overreacting it"

and for a good reason, just imaganie lets say oyu have a favourite class em example a tanky DK who basicly cant die if you know how to play with it. Now imaganie you read a forum article here from Gina or any of teh cumminty mannager: saying in a patch note that DK's getting nerfed. all right you say porbably thats reasonable.
But imaganie you read this almost every damn time when a new patch note is comming out, and also you would like to know wait a minute where are these nerfs originaly comes from?

And you began to see on teh forum threads that actualy a huge amount of people demanding it becasue tehy cant counter atack your class, tehy cant out smart them becasue simply those players dosent have the (i will be very hars here so please i am talking about generaly of my point of view so dont take it personal at all i have nothign againts anyone) brain capactity to think logicaly to how to outsmart a class like a DK.

It is not that hard obviusly you just have to watch your oponent, folloowing its play stlye, study the moves, know all of its skills, it is not hard to do, and eventualy you can even come out as a winner if you take your time to finde out wich is the weak point of the class. BECASUE EVERY CLASS HAVE A WEAK POINT. PVP also have strategy playnot just pve. If people lacking strategy against lets say sorcerers thats not the sorcerers class faultin fact. It is the players fault who cant strategise them self how to overcome a sorcerer sucsessfuly. Do you want my shileds down? whel penetrate them, do you want me to not runn away or blink CC me, do you want me to die well honey kill me then with your skills and your strategy. But people just want to play in a hack and slash stlye.

So they cry for nerfs, and here we are now. "overreacting" sorc nerfes.

Do you even post in the sorc discord? I'm pretty regular and the only mods I've seen are @KenaPKK and @Masel92. Lots of discussions in there on what to wear. Most are leaning to heavy. Yay diversity.
