How does Cadwell's Silver & Gold work after One Tamriel?

Before One Tamriel, you were allowed to complete other alliances' quests once you defeated the final boss. How does it work now given the fact you can go anywhere at any time?

1. Does it simply mean that you can complete Cadwell's Silver/Gold (and get his "hat") whenever you like?

Or...

2. Do you have to complete the two enemy alliances' quests twice? (Once for Cadwell's Silver/Gold and then as a part of unrestricted exploration that came with One Tamriel?)

Complete guess here - I would think that you still pick up the "quest" after completing the main story and that it completes automatically if you've already completed the required steps?

I still had the gold quest in my log since before the change. Just finished it this morning and received the pot.

Not helpful but I'm curious if the reward and quest remain or if it has become a legacy perk.

I can't imagine it being a legacy perk, especially with silver being a crafting style (which is now directly tied to Master Writ chances).

I'm interested to know how this works as well though.

Most people don't bother with Cadwell's Silver/Gold anymore. But if you've never done it, the stories and quests are interesting to do once. The best way is to is go to the beginning city's dock, and do the starter islands quest first. Depending on what you do in the starter islands, determines who you'll meet and how those npcs will treat you later on.

I just did the main quest line again on a new character, and Cadwell's Silver is still given.

but I want to try going to the other alliance, given you can get passage on ships there,

Exactly the same as before. Once you've completed your home alliance story Cadwell pops up and gives you the silver quest. If you have already completed some of the quests for silver/gold they will just be shown as completed in silver/gold quest log. You do not have to redo the quests again.

Thanks for the information. +1 insightful.

It works the same way. It just isn't "required" anymore.

Now if you say finish you main faction line then jump and do the gold, then silver and then talk to Cadwell I don't know if you get credit or not.

You do get the credit. To complete Cadwell's quests you just need to have a bunch of specific quest completed, so it doesn't matter if you do them before or after accepting the Silver/Gold quest. The one thing you can't do, and it's also the same as before, is to turn in Gold before completing Silver

Exactly this, I completed the main quest this morning having already completed all the Cadwell's silver quests, left the harbourage, re-entered the harbourage and received the silver rewards from Cadswell. I'm now on the gold quests.

Finally got through silver yesterday. Had to tolerate the filthy Dominion for too long. I must say the reward and "just touch the light" was so anti-climactic my jaw dropped

    It's a chamber pot.

...then maybe it should "stink", instead of just blowing?

Do the npc's in your original alliance story line still react to you the same way? It might sound silly but I find that immersive and I like it when I'm in say Riften (I'm EP) and bump into an innkeeper I helped out. I'd hate to lose that and I could just look up the quests on the other factions for the skill points. I'd never wear that chamber pot anyway :-)
