What does "spamming shields" actually MEAN?

Obviously this is a noob question but I have wondering this for a long time and now seems like the best time to ask, rofl.
Is this just referring generally to skills that absorb/block damage like Harness Magicka or Shimmering Shield? Or Healing Ward if you're running a resto?
Does each class have a "shield" skill and, if so, what's a Nightblade's?

✭✭✭✭✭Yes any of the skills which add that additional layer of shielded health is generally considered a damage shield.
Not every class has a shield. Nightblade being one of the main ones which doesn't.
Spammable basically means you can just throw it up for instant damage reduction with the exception of global cooldown.@Turelus - EU PC Megaserver

✭✭✭✭✭It means to stack 2 or more different damage shields so you have constant damage shields. Like conjured ward+harness magicka.
Magblades would use the light armor shield. Stamblades used to rely more on dodge/evasion. Plus Cloak for both, obviously.0
