Divine Prosecution Badge--if you launder it, can you use it?

Picked an Advanced safebox and got a blue Divine Prosecution badge, which says "when flashed, can open many doors." Rather than sell it--I had plenty of gold--I laundered it. Now it shows as a treasure, bound. Can I use it? I'm a High Elf and I already have the Divine Prosecution style as an outfit. THanks!

Thanks! Oh well, looks like I wasted $$ laundering it, but I can sell it, so it's a wash....thanks! Was kind of hoping that I could place it in a house or something, but it's not listed under furnishings...oh well.

    Sadly, no.

I like launder things for roleplaying reasons. My master thief from Rivenspire's Montclair family carries around a snuffbox with the Montclair crest on it as a memory of home, as well as a (purple) ruby from the Ruby Throne just for bragging rights.

The few stolen items which can be placed are labelled as furnishings right from when you first pick them up. Sadly there's not many of them and there's a lot of cool stolen items which have no use beyond selling.

I could easily fill all my houses with random stolen trinkets if it was possible, and I wish I could because that's exactly what I would do in previous TES games - I'd hold onto anything I thought was cool or interesting and which didn't have to be given away/destroyed to complete a quest.

    Keep it.

If you are on PC get the addon Port To Friends House

Randomly try to get to peoples houses that you aren't friends or guild mates of. When you succeed of finding the right house for an @name and they are there... You can flash that badge when they ask how you got there.

May take days, weeks, months, or years. But it will be worth it.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who did this.

Once, I broke my house in Windhelm because I was collecting every gem I found in the game and piling them into a crate. I had hundreds of them, and eventually the game would crash every time I went in the house and walked past the crate they were in. I had to run in there really quick and grab up as many gems as I could before the game crashed in order to stop it happening. :D

You would be surprised at how many stolen items are furniture.

I have to keep an eye out for pilferable furniture. I don't have the money to buy all of the sets, nor the patience to set up elaborate households, but I do have lots of crafting writs and would love to see some more unique items.

The only purpose of the treasures is to sell it.

As cool as that would be, you cannot use the badge.

    ^^^ What they said.
If the item has the word 'Treasure' in the upper left corner of the pop-up tooltip, then it's 100% vendor loot. If it's a furniture item, it will say 'Furnishing' in the upper left corner. (Beneath that will be the category it falls under when you're in the housing editor, such as Workshop or Library, etc.)

Exception is that some are used for the crow daily quests. Also the countess repeatable one in the TG.

But yes it would be cool if more of they could be used for house items or other things like jewelry
