Because the art team that designed it are not likely responsible for how it was priced or how it is obtained. The actual quality of the armor and weapons from a style perspective has nothing to do with how much it costs or how you get it. Look at Tsaesci for example, it was limited time and cheaper, and the dye quality and texture quality and uniqueness of the style does not correlate to how it was obtained. That is why this board is feedback for the artists/designers not marketing.

Zathras✭✭✭✭✭Other (please do not derail thread discussing the pricing/obtaining issues)I'm not going to derail this, but since you asked "How well did they execute the motif", and the hot point of contention is that the execution of it was terrible due to intentional design to push you into the Cash Shop to pay an egregious amount of Crowns..I chose "Other".
It doesn't matter how pretty it is, when the design to obtain it smells like someone took a page from Pearl Abyss' model.

✭✭✭✭✭Is it weird that I don't like armors that have a front flap and not a back flap? Very few of the pants actually look good instead of looking spandexy or having weird stitches or pulling over my character's butts, and I wasn't too impressed with the Welkynar pants.1 -

But things like the shield bring up a valid concern. Maybe there should be a toggle where you can let your 2H, bow, staff, or shield override any adornments on the back. I struggle to think of any scenario where somebody would like their shield clipping through the wings in a such a way that you couldn't realistically arm your shield without tearing the wings off in the process.
I mean, they'll likely keep the default as per internal policy, but I don't think shieldbearers in particular should be punished if they otherwise like the motif except for that clipping. Trinimac and Ra Gada have wings, but the Welkynar wings really stick far off the back by comparison.signing off1 -

I noticed the front flap, reminded me of Grim Harlequin. The bum reminds me of the Emperor costume...dowdy diaper looking butts look terrible
