Low Imperial City Event Turnout

I'd like to visit Imperial City again to farm some telvar crystals, but I found it's way too dangerous place for my skills.
I think some kind of neutral flag status would be necessary for noobs such as me ;) .
For a fixed time, can buy this time for either gold or telvars, the flag grants immunity to all pvp activities there. Cannot harm anyone, no one can harm me. Can or cannot participate in killing monsters with other pvpers, and can e.g. receive only half the amount of telvars that usually drop for pvpers. Seems a fair way to increase population inside ;).

I’ve been here since beta, but I’ve been to Imperial City exactly once. I don’t care much about tel var stones since I never use them for anything, but I do care about the idea of losing any I have gained to another player. No thanks. That’s not the sort of gameplay I enjoy. Not going back as long as this is a possibility.

@Reistr_the_Unbroken the pet is super cheap atm, I got one for 16k yesterday. The skin has dropped from 1m+ to 450k now and may drop a little more. If you can afford them, I'd buy them now. After the event they'll go right back up.

The pet is now available from multiple trader at 5K...

Wow. This is probably one of the most reasonable suggestions for PVE without PVP in IC I've ever seen. Honestly - well done!

No new achievements, nothing new to gain, IC was already a bad idea from day one due to it being pvp mixed with 90% pve and npc's getting in the way.

Even if you have not done some of the old achievements this event actually makes them harder to get and not easier. Double rewards but since it's over populated during the event you actually get less...

Can't think of any reason to participate more in IC during the event compared to not during the event? More chance on skin etc drops but pointless since the most stupid thing that was never fixed for this event?

Drops only count for 12 players....and only those 12 with the most damage....

That alone makes most people not even bother to fight that and the RNG never mind the risk of being gank/bomber food...

Personally I semi enjoyed the event first time but after that, pointless.

I noticed a few reasons why this event isn't that popular anymore.

Tel var stones aren't that valuable anymore.
Do to over crowding at times, I actually get more tel var stones when the event isn't running.
People are already burnt out from it.

Idk what you are talking about imperial city on PS4 na has had a good turnout for the event Everytime I have went to kill molag Bal there has been about 40-50 or us there at times if you look at all the other servers on PS4 na they are filled with blue and red it's like we all have are own servers for the event I think that might be the problem with zos adding in the extra servers it seems like not much ppl are participating but they are they are just scattered amongst the servers good thing to there already are to many ppl at molag Bal in vivec on PS4 na way to many ad there the last couple of days it's hard to even get a drop at times because molag Bal dies to fast and if you haven't done enough damage well you are left out without a drop

I have made 500k Tel Var in just a few hours of farming the district bosses today and yesterday alone (up to 1 mil TV stones banked, now). No enemy faction players ever in sight. I'll carry anywhere from 50k to 150k at a time before going down to bank (you know, just in case!) But honestly, there is not much of a risk of being ganked, if you are smart about it. (You know, farm on a dead/low-populated campaign, not Vivec, play late at night or early in the morning, and watch for any of the Districts to flag as a warning/indicator of enemy presence, etc...)

As for Molag Bal, I already had the pet and the skin from the 1st or 2nd IC Anniversary event. Can't remember when I got it, but it was instantly applied to my account when it dropped. But, now, it is a Runebox that you can use for yourself OR sell/trade. Go figure.

I farmed Molag Bal for a little bit early on, this time around, got the pet rune-box 3 times back-to-back-to-back. It is only worth like 10k, so may as well give it to friends or try to sell it sometime in March-June, far away from the event, lol. Better off just farming District bosses for the double Tel Var. You get like 28k TV if you solo the boss while wearing the TV x4 set bonus, as well as owning the corresponding district flag. 14k if you duo it with someone, etc.

I wear the Tel Var bonus set (always carrying 10k+ stones) and have yet to be killed by a player or NPC.
PC - NA, guested on D'Albei campaign for when farming Tel Var on EP characters.

Spent several hours on killing ballbag mol so far. Got the scamp last year, got it two more times yesterday.

Also, yesterday a bunch on an enemy alliance came through and wiped us out - I accept that, it happens. What burns was when I returned I came across a dead ally and rezzed them, they proceeded to follow me into the central room and stood on my location unstealthed.

Drawing the enemy alliance onto me, killing me.

A few minutes later another ally arrived and rezzed us both. The newcomer went one way, I went the opposite direction, while the spy followed the newcomer and directed the enemy to that location. I hid behind some crates in a manner that put my nameplate inside the rocks and watched the spy in my alliance creep around looking for me, with an enemy alliance player throwing area attacks into cracks and crevices suspiciously close to the spy but never hitting them.

Why should I participate in that?

I haven't played IC much so there's still a lot for me to do there, but I just assumed the event would attract all the gankers hoping to 'farm' PvE players. Which for me means the best approach is to avoid that map entirely until the event is over.

Combine that with the fact that I'm always away around this time of year and busy when I am at home and I've been prioritising things I know I can actually get done - without one ganker wiping out my progress so he can pretend to his friends that I actually put up a fight and it's somehow impressive that he 'beat' me.

Yeah, ps4 NA had an excellent turn out and I had a blast...

IMHO, the current incarnation of Imperial City is rewarding because it forces you to 'git gud'...

Your build has to be capable of withstanding a gank attempt while fighting a boss...

Your build has to be capable of dealing with being out numbered...

    I love it...

I wouldn't change a thing about it except to add more items to spend Telvar on...

If you get 2x tel var for each boss you kill
And you lose half of it when you die
And every time you die you bank your tel var

Then this event is basically allowing PvE players to get the regular amount of tel var they would get as if it was a normal time period and they didn’t lose any for dying.

That being said, it’s fun to wipe 30+ with 4-6 people.

So much this. The math is irrefutable. Developing a strategy for farming is part of the game. So many fights to be had as well. Get some friends together or pug it up. Make your own fun, seriously. Finding that one boss no one hit yet and killing it solo is so much worth the 28k telvar.

I remember the last IC event had the servers bursting. But for some reason very few seem to be participating I don't PVP so without a big group I'm easy pickings for all the hardcore PVP players. Since the event starting I've only been in 3 groups. Why is the event not as popular as it was last time?

Because Imperial City sucks. Putting an event there doesn't change that.

There is only so much "ganking" a player is willing to tolerate before they just say f this.

I did the event several days last year, and only one day this year. I had fun, but ...

My issue with the sewers is that it takes too long to get to the center, and by the time you get there, you just find that an opposing faction is camped out there in much greater numbers than you and you don't have a chance to even fight Molag. So your only chance is to go in there with a big group, and a lot of times you just can't find a big group. That's the reason I've only done IC during the events ... there's more of a chance of getting a decent-sized group together.

I got the scamp as a drop, but ended up just buying the soul shriven skin from a guild trader this morning. Heck with it. The sewers is too frustrating for me to attempt to farm for hours just to get that skin.

TBH the sewers are probably one of the lowest populations of DLC content. This DLC has been out the longest and still cost 5500 crowns, that’s not worth it from a new player pve perspective. Imo they should make the sewers base game and make the respawn shrines in each factions base portable from any wayshrine in game. With that said you can only port to the current toons faction base. With it being base game and able to port into without running through cyrodiil it would increase the zones population. Also keep the zone PvP based so there is risk in going there.

For me personally, I don't enjoy mixing pvp and pve content. I have never done any of the Cyro pve quests. I do pve when I want to control the pace and pick my battles. I do pvp when I want to enjoy the rush of combat. IC has too much pve content for me in a pvp zone. The loss of tel var is really more of an annoyance than a deal-breaker.

Anyway, that's why I don't really care about IC.

Eh, I'm not interested in feeding the ball-zerg farm groups that are only there to steal what others have worked to get. I have better things to do topside. If I really need Telvar (and let's face it, none of us really do), I'll come back when there are fewer hyenas. It's pretty boring this year.

I think they should just turn off the telvar loss for a patch and see what happens. Maybe add like a 100-200 flat telvar gain for killing a player, with the same rules as AP to discourage farming. There are a lot of ways they could try to incentivize IC, but this seems easiest.

    They should.

But supposedly Imperial City is for "hardcore" players who like to feel a penalty when they die. Or something.

The main issue is the skin. It being such a low chance. Awarded to only top 12 of the highest damage group compounds the flavor the month dps build and discourages the play your way the dev team likes to spout. Its play the dps meta way on all aspects

It was frustrating going to Molag as my healer. Constant healing to keep my fellow group members alive for hours while I never once got a drop from him. The few times I tried to mix in some DPS, it wasn't enough to register for a drop. Hearing all of them excited about getting this drop and that drop made me sick. Never healing in that area again.

    Let's see...

Alliance war ending soon and help keeping it near-even is what I want to do. If I go to IC, I will get ran over by 20+ players that suck but have #s and still jump you when you are attacking Molag Bal. This patch heavily favors NBs, which are probably the majority of IC players, who carry no Tel Var but are sure to take yours. Etc.

I can farm Tel Var another day when it's empty without the stupids and come out ahead.

I think they should do this during the event. Or at least try it in one of the event-only campaigns and see what happens. If I could go in there and not lose my Tel Var I'd have a lot more fun.

I don't care how awesome you are, there is always a risk that you could have some bad luck. The rewards I earn from playing represent my time. When someone takes them away from me, they have caused my time to be wasted. I do not like that feeling at all.
