If I created a guild whose entire purpose was to run anti-botting events (perhaps with fun prizes) would folks join it, I wonder?

You consider founding a guild to do the GMs job? Sounds strange.

ZOS needs to block their Xbox's... Ban the device's MAC address and the main account that the bots are sending the resources to.

We really shouldn’t have to do ZOS’s work for them. I sent in a video of a bot farming away at a node (and my bear trap memento), in addition to the several reports I filed. No response — not even an acknowledgement that they’re aware of the problem. I’ve given this company a lot of money over the years I’ve been playing, and it’s frustrating when users who are so obviously breaching the TOS get to run rampant without repercussion.

Hire a gm or two per server that patrols the zones.

Nerf npc spawn rates/increase difficulty. If AFK bots can beat your game maybe its too easy.

What do you mean by NPC spawn rates? Critters and humanoids in the wild?

Because nerfing the respawn duration of non hostile NPCs in towns would take away one of the last incomes of legit players.

I mean wolfs, bears mudcrabs etc that spawn in seconds and can be afk heavy attacked for instant hide all day and night.

If ZOS doesn't care why should anyone care?

So called Real GameMasters should be there doing their job.

About 3 years of my playing time and I never met a single GM, do they even exist?

If not, why should I care about bots.

The drop rate on GMs is very low. Keep farming!

It's unfortunate that the idea sounds strange. It should be strange. Then again, we dwell within a game where GMs don't actually exist, so either the players band together to mass report bots and keep an eye on things or the problem will continue at its present levels (or get worse).

I see. The bots try to farm GMs, makes sense.

The games been great for 4.5+ years, but lets face it: the game is dying. Which means less revenue for them. Wonder why you're seeing all these new benefits to ESO+ and a new event every two weeks that has new crown crate items? It's obvious why. And they are not going to start potentially banning people who might have ESO+ and who might spend money on crown crates.

This should be a simple coding seek > find request on the servers. Which nodes were repeatedly and sequentially harvested at the exact same time interval? Return a list and set your parameter on how many times in a row is too many. Even five would be player friendly and bot harmful. Set the script to run every day at a specific time. Automate the ban-hammer.

Automation is a horrible idea no matter how you try and slice and dice it. Too much potential for wrongful bans. Sadly there is some legit user out there who does park himself in front of a node and repeatedly harvest it as a side task while he does something else like play on his cell phone.

Computers should not be doing this job, real people should.

I already made one but I'm the only member so far, lol. Lemme know if you want an invite. I have ideas... ;)

Because it's against TOS, because it takes resources away from people who are actually playing, and because some people care about things that other people don't. I'm not sure why these questions continue to be asked.

Look, this thread is full of suggestions for dealing with bots already. If you don't also have a suggestion for dealing with bots, please don't bother posting. Aspersions on ZOS go nowhere in this regard, as do aspersions on those of us who want to spend our time helping police the zones. Us doing that will continue to have literally no effect on the people who perceive that botting has no effect on them. Would I like for ZOS to come along and hand out Banhammers to those of us who are consistently and successfully reporting bots that we find? Sure... but then I might get compensated and accusations of corruption would start and so on. It's better to just let the folks who want to take up this cause do so and let it be.
