I saw this recipe in the guild store the other day and im not sure who it references to. I thought it may be potema septim the wolf queen, but she wasnt born until the 3rd era. I also heard from someone that it may be Azura but that doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me. Any ideas?

Might be a reference to that Fortunata person from Anvil? Isn't she the head of the ''Red Sails'' or something?

I was thinking it was a reference to some Empress (since she'd be sitting on the Ruby Throne) but I suspect if that were the case it would be the Red Empress' Eye-Opener not Red Queen's. :\ Sorry, I know that isn't much help.

@Bruccius that is very likely. while the lore book never refers to Fortunata as the "red queen" its not too much of a stretch from 'pirate queen of the red sails' shortened to 'Red queen".

@WhiteCoatSyndrome I also thought it might be someone who occupied the throne :)

Does anyone else have any other potential suitors who could be the 'red queen'?

It's an obscure Easter egg reference to a cut quest in Oblivion...

"There is a rumor around Cheydinhal that "Dervera Romalen is sure proud of the Newlands Lodge. I think she's especially happy that the Red Queen drinks there". No "Red Queen" exists anywhere in the game. In Unmarked Cave, however, there is a zone called "Unmarked Cave Black Queen's Hall", which contains a chest with the id "ChestMS25DungeonMythicEnemyRare01". This suggests a quest with the ID "MS25" relating to a Black Queen was originally planned, which might also have involved the Red Queen of Cheydinhal. There is no such quest remaining, however, and no other reference to it exists."

@Palindiil I read about that too, the only issue there is that oblivion takes place in the third era, long after the events of ESO. And while its possible the developers added this recipe as a nod towards a cut quest in oblivion it seems rather unlikely they would intentionally break lore for something so trivial. Not impossible, I just don't think its likely.

I don't think it's anything more than a nod to the cut quest, after all 'The Red Queen' could be a vampire or a lich and be alive (or undead) in the second and third era. No other information on it, but I'm pretty sure it's just a developer joke.

"The Red Queen" could also be an inheritable title, and so belong to a whole string of characters. This is long before the Warp in the West, so there are innumerable little kingdoms all over the map. "Red" could refer to the Ebonheart Pact, but I doubt it.
