Psijic Portal Contents

Will psijic portals always have pulverized aurbic amber? Do the portals contain a set number of items?

I’m trying to figure out if portal looting is THAT bad in the game or if I only get the amber on some portals according to how much the RNG gods hate me that day.

    As far as I know a Psijic portal will always have 3 runes and a set item from the zone. On top of that there can be a motif page/book, a full Auric Amber or a grain, infused exemplary jewelry and Psijic Ambrosia (might be exclusive to the motif 'slot').

    I've found great stuff in those portals a bunch of purple rings and the full imperial motif in a portal in cyrodil.

    Maybe just good rng but every time I open one I'm rarely disappointed

    I've received Motifs too XD and lots of gear related to the zones loot tables.

    This is, unfortunately, the case. Given how uncommon portals are, each one should have a guaranteed grain.

    Agreed - the amount of purple gear/jewelry, grains and other stuff they spit up makes the Master level locked chests laughable.

    Anything that can drop in that zone is up for grabs. Including motifs from dailies.

    Ex. In clockwork city, a portal can give you: set gear/weaps/jewels, Ebonshadow/Apostle motifs, or basic Infused jewels

    Ex2. In Vvardenfell, you can get set gear, Ashlander/Morag Tong/Bouyant Armiger motifs, or the usual psijic jewels

    The amber is part of all portal item pools, rolled independent of the other drops

    The portal contents are really great! I don't have the first quest done on every girl, but 5 out of 9 is plenty to spread stuff around everyone. Some of the sets are better than others (I really enjoyed the "which sets are underused" thread due to having just picked up three pieces of the Sithis's set in Gold Coast - it's useless for any of mine, 'cause I'm not into the DB or the Blade of Woe, or stam NBs!)

    I look for portals as I'm out adventuring, the same way I look for mats to harvest.

    Portals are great the only downside to them is I often find ones that are cherry picked

    Wow. I've not noticed that so far. I guess I must have been lucky! The whole cherry-picking thing is just sucky.

    Once things like this are opened (including chests and resource nodes) they should last for 30 seconds and then despawn, that cherry-picked stuff is a kick in the ***.

    Yep. Speaking of QoL stuff that's not in this game....

    The biggest issue I ever had in WoW and RIFT was due to my lag - I'd think I'd started harvesting a resource, and then this other person is there and gets it. Two second lag is a killer.

    Cherry-picking nodes is.... just slimeball stuff.

    If only people would pick the runestone nodes more often we'd all have more psijiic portals to encounter.

    I've experimented in a couple places with running multiple characters past places with a good cluster of runestones as I do dailies or whatever and usually get one, if not two, psijiic portals to spawn so long as I continue to pluck the runes so they have a chance to spawn by the time another character comes by.

    Yep. Noticed that myself in a couple of areas I haven't ever seen another player in. Nope. Not saying. I always clean the nodes - if I don't have a use for some of the stuff, well, there are ways to get rid of it. Cherry-picking is just.... um. Can't say that here.

    When you log into a new toon you’re in a new instance, so those tests don’t really say much. Regardless, if people never harvest Runes, then there’s not a chance to roll for a portal over a runestone, but it won’t increase the odds of a portal spawning

    You just need a character with 3 swift, cowards and darkstride just run and run through zones those portals are more common then you'd think

    That's absolutely not true. It could happen, but with the way the grouping has worked almost since launch is that you're much more likely to be put into the same instance with people who are your friend, or guildmates, or in your group. I repeatedly log in and run past the exact same people that were just standing there on the last character.

    True for me with 2 second lag. Not likely true for those who can actually play the content. Too bad I don't have a decent connection.

    Then again, the game is fun, so I'm not really complaining.
