Besides that it seems OP is trying to do two different things which takes away form the poll.
But yes, I think most that create these polls do not understand they are statistically immaterial and serve to be merely entertainment value. Unfortunately we have seen some cite polls in other threads as though they mean something.1 -

I’m using sororia and still julianos on front bar (all inferno staves, maelstrom back, julianos front, both infused) mothers sorrow doesnt give me consistent results. Would still like to try BSW but need inferno staff. Valkyn head and shoulders. Consistently mid 43k dps. Should be 45k+ with zaan. Dark Elf, using elemental weapon spammable and found best results with shooting star ultimate-only because you can get two full rotations out of it. Could probably tweak bars for better results, but like to test with same setup as I run. (Xbox NA)0

I think magplar is a good dps this patch because can do damage melee or ranged.

Avg DPS across 20 parses per Mundus (60 total):- 51.2k --> Lover
- 50.3k --> Apprentice
- 49.8k --> Thief
Siroria is roughly 1-4% higher than BSW depending on Perfect/non-Perfect gearing.
Other posters here with high DPS will have different results due to their own playstyle. As hinted above by other posters... DPS parses should really only be compared to your own parse history. There are far too many variables to compare to someone else's, especially if the other person only shows their best. It goes without saying that cross-class self-buffed tests are completely incomparable. Rather than trying to hit 50k, try hitting 5% higher than your current... so if you're at 34k, go for 35.5k. Higher DPS will come with practice.
A note for those going for higher DPS in parsing... Completely ignore sustain on your bar. Other than Ele Drain, you don't need sustain. Working on weave and DOT stacking is key, along with ensuring all your passives are unlocked and active. 50k+ DPS on 3mil is something every person can do with easily farmed/purchased gear (vMA Inferno being the exception to this). No Trials gear needed. Also!... Spell Power Potions! It blows my mind how many people practice with dropped, trash mag pots. Stop that!Arathof | stamSorc since Feb 12th, 20144 -

Na, man. Try using both and see. Elemental weapon will give you like 5k more dps, plus every 5th cast of elemental weapon within 10 seconds procs a spell orb for more damage (one of the passives). Also, sweeps is channeled, you get fewer light attacks in. I would never use sweeps unless full melee.1 -

Sorcs have always been this way though, due to our lack of a class spammable. I think sorc isn't that bad thematically, though a spammable would be nice but I have long since given up hope on something like that ever being granted to us.0 -

You’re right, you could be a magblade and do it better, but that’s the ideology of “if you can’t beat em, join em” which myself and several others do not subscribe to.

This is false. Elemental weapon does more dps and provides more group utility with the bonus status effects it keeps up. I'm fine without having a class spammable, but the spammables we have access to work counter to the class strengths.
We "could" be using force pulse with a lightning destro staff, but this is demonstrably worse than an inferno staff for raw damage single target, and due to the sustain issues sorc has can't really be maintained anyway. Because elemental weapon is 15% cheaper than force pulse we're basically forced into using it so now the spammable is magic damage and the light attack damage is flame. Now the shock passive damage increase only applies to liquid lightning, shock enchantment and mages wrath.
At best.
A class spammable would fix part of this if they made it cost comparable to elemental weapon, but we're still going to have to run inferno staffs for that 8% single target damage.
For sorcs to be a lightning based class they need both their sustain issues addressed and single target shock damage increased.0 -

Are you sure it works with elemental weapon? I'm pretty sure it only works on channeled/cast time abilities from the psijic line (meditate, time stop, channeled acceleration)0 -

As far as I'm concerned, going ranged, using non-templar skills, and going away from the whole awesome Holy Warrior archetype might as well be a magblade. It's joining an undesirable play-style to get good DPS.
