I got a mount...... I already bought months ago with sub crowns. And the usual junk to be converted. Still I'm only 60 off a new mount now. If I keep handing over moolah I will soon have another mount to go with the Augean Stable I already have....(That's not a property guys)
Over to NA account. I got an Orc scout costume which I could make, I don't see the point? And some green aura thingy those sad questless people who already did everything use near a wayshrine or Undaunted base use hoping someone will duel them. And a spinner costume, which again is just a rehash of armour and isn't a good look for a khajiit. the rest was so worthless I managed to convert 5 gems. But it was free. 100Gs 100Gs keep playing keep playing.

You can't complain about free stuff, but I totally agree that the RNG I've had doesn't entice me to spend £20 on 15 crates. I've had about 20 free crates over the last couple of months and got zero mounts. I certainly wouldn't spend half the price of a full game on those sorts of odds for one measly mount.

But someone is and as long as they do ZOS won't change anything.

Ask yourselves this question: why can't we buy everything in the crates with normal crowns? Why use the crates distribution model? The answer is that they are taking advantage of gambling psychology and taking advantage of people who can't control the gambling impulse. I've bought crates in the past, I feel the urge to gamble with more crates to get what I want, but I see this scam for what it is and exert some self-control.

They are hoping that by giving away free crates they will hook people into buying more crates. It's a despicable practice akin to pushing drugs. You're taking advantage of human brain chemistry. Shame on you ZOS, clean up your act. I thought the gaming industry had learned their lesson with loot boxes.

Surely you see this isn't the same? Nothing in the crates provides an edge in gameplay - it's all cosmetic or such a minimal advantage (I'm thinking of the scrolls or potions here) so as to be negligible. They're just giving away free things. With the noted exception of The Bots, we're all human - and yet we're not all buying crates. I don't say this lightly: Folks who struggle with this addiction should uninstall or seek help if ESO (or any other game) is a stumbling block (let someone else handle the account information, etc.). The primary responsibility lies nowhere else.

Yeah.. I feel and hear the pain. Just returned from some months hiatus and saw I had about 5600 crowns left over still on my screen, and wouldn't mind getting one those Psijic and/or Ghost mounts. So, I grabbed the 5k (15) Vault crate and practically got all craps and not a mount from any of the 15 crates. Ok, put a dounce cap on me and stick a kick me stupid sign on my back because I grabbed 5500 more crowns and another of the 15 crates set, and again, no mounts and only craps. Yup, regreted dropping 40 bucks on the 5500 crowns and getting craps from 30 crates. Freaking ffing bullsmack! Last and only time ever spending dough on crown crates!!

You opened 2 crates... you had less than 1% chance to get something that wasn't crappy common items in such a small sample of crates.

Maybe don't over-exaggerate so much and calm down - they're crates you paid nothing for, and you had unreasonable expectations from them. Did you expect an Apex Mount in each or what?

I got Legendary Doom Wolf, but already had it - 33 gems, but I you don't see me losing it.

Just bringing something to light...I have opened free crates right next to multiple people and received exactly the same thing from the exact free crates. This happened either during the Dwarven crates or ones before that I believe? I would have to look again and I am not at home. Take from this what you will.

Let me give you a hypothetical example:
Person 1 opens crate 1 and gets potion, a dog pet, a scroll, a meal, and an outfit...in this exact order.
Person 2 opens crate 1 and gets potion, a dog pet, a scroll, the meal, and an outfit...in this exact order.
Person 3 opens crate 1 and gets potion, a dog pet, a scroll, a meal, and an outfit....in this exact order.
Now repeat this process for crate 2 and so on. These items were exactly the same...no variability whatsoever, not even with pots or meals.

Now some of you may say this is purely coincidence and that I completely agree that it could have been. HOWEVER, it certainly LOOKS bad on ZOS. It APPEARS to be a facade in order to sell crown crates to someone who is impressionable to fall for a ruse. Give people the exact same things from pre-programmed crates that seemingly look random on purpose.
Make sure you give them a bunch of trash and something considered "medium tier" in order to pique their curiosity about their own possible luck, then sell crates to the most impressionable people. who have that gambling mentality.

I do realize that people have their own free agency to spend money on whatever they want and I do realize that the responsibility falls on the individual for purchasing something or falling for a trick, BUT that doesn't make the practice any less trashy. A dummy gets what a dummy deserves, but the practice is dishonest and dishonesty like that really truly does make me sick.

Please save the goofy opinions for someone else because I'll simply scroll right past someone that doesn't have anything constructive to say in a CONVERSATION. If you have anything to add or something to point out that I may have missed then I'm all ears. Happy questing.

Wait a minute, when did the choice get taken away to accept something or not? Just because something is free, does not mean you have to take it. That's hoarding mentality. If its free and it has value, then take it and move on, if its free and does not have value, simply do not take it. Now in regards to crown crates, can we not just let them sit unopened therefore not taking them?

Well, the standard crate is 3 <whatever> and 1 blue-or-better. So, yeah, that's the normal setup.

anyway, my two crates gave a memento, a non-dog pet, and ~39 gems (the usual common consumables and yet another Gold Coast XP scroll that I don't care about. I've not used the XP scrolls that I've gotten from leveling rewards or daily rewards either. I'm not sure what the attraction of them is.)

But yeah - two more crates that demonstrate why I can't see ever paying for a crate. All the free crates/card packs/boxes/whatever that games give these days, are a wonderful advertisement not to spend your money on them. (but I'll happily let them keep trying to convince me. It's moar stuff. ;) )

These things are largely cosmetic. Beauty is a matter of taste. The crates are free and everything can be converted to gems. Worst case scenario (gambling addictions aside, I guess), you get a crate with a half-dozen gems for free that you can stockpile. I'm not sure there's much more to the conversation? You don't even have to open the crates or spend the gems - and nobody need ever know! ;)
